Secret Service finds a man with an AR-15 and two other weapons in a stolen car near the White House. Then he reveals why he was there

‘Voices in his head.’

A man was taken into custody near the White House on November 5, 2026, after Secret Service officers discovered him inside a stolen vehicle with a cache of weapons. According to UNILAD, the suspect, identified as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos, allegedly claimed that voices in his head instructed him to travel to Washington, D.C., to assassinate Donald Trump. The encounter took place on Constitution Avenue late Thursday evening.

It started when a patrolling Secret Service officer noticed a suspicious blue Ford F-150 parked near the White House complex. The officer approached the vehicle shortly before midnight to check on the driver. According to court documents, the officer asked the man if he was doing okay and if there were any weapons inside. ABC News reports that the man reportedly nodded “yes” and made a finger gun gesture toward the officer.

Following this interaction, the suspect exited the vehicle. He reportedly communicated with investigators using Google Translate, claiming he possessed the firearms because others had attempted to use them against him. He allegedly told officers he had to take the weapons away from those individuals and that the items were stored in a brown bag.

However, the DHS provided a different account

According to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the man admitted he heard voices in his head telling him to come to the capital and kill President Donald Trump. A subsequent search of the stolen vehicle revealed a significant stash of weaponry.

Officers found an AR-15 style rifle, a Mac 10 machine pistol, and a Glock 43X pistol. Along with these three firearms, investigators recovered dozens of rounds of ammunition. The vehicle itself had been reported stolen, which added further charges to the case against him.

DHS records indicate that Guanipa Chrinos is an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela. He originally entered the United States through Texas in March 2024. Border Patrol agents apprehended him at that time, but he was eventually released into the country.

Following his latest arrest, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer for him. He is currently being held in custody by the U.S. Marshals Service and appeared in D.C. Superior Court on Friday, where he remains held without bond.

The legal charges against Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos are extensive

He faces counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property. Additionally, he is charged with carrying a rifle outside a home or business, carrying a pistol without a license, and multiple counts related to unregistered firearms and ammunition.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin issued a statement praising the swift actions of the officers involved. “Thanks to our brave Secret Service officers, this illegal alien with three firearms in his vehicle was arrested near the White House before he could harm anyone,” Mullin said.

Mullin further noted, “On top of threatening President Trump, he is an illegal alien from Venezuela who had no business being in our country in the first place. This is just an example of the incredible work done by the men and women of the Secret Service every single day as they put their lives on the line to protect our nation’s leaders. It’s an honor to work alongside Director Sean Curran and all of the patriots at the US Secret Service.”

Curran also addressed the gravity of the situation

The US Secret Service Director highlighted the pressures currently facing his agency. “This is the latest example of Secret Service personnel relying on extensive training and experience to deescalate a volatile situation that posed an imminent threat to our protectees and other Americans,” Curran stated.

He added, “This incident reflects the heightened threat environment in which we operate, as well as the continued number of armed individuals who are drawn to the White House complex. While our personnel are trained to respond to situations like this and we remain confident in our tactics, we are alarmed by the increase in threat cases that continue to arise.”

Curran emphasized that the Secret Service will continue expanding its focus on proactively investigating individuals who make threats to protectees to disrupt these dangers before they arrive in Washington. This event is not the first time Trump has faced security threats. He survived a shooting at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, back in July 2024, which resulted in an injury to his ear.

Two months later, another armed suspect was apprehended near his golf course in Florida. The authorities continue to monitor these developments closely as the investigation into the November 5 incident proceeds.
