Tom Holland’s Past Comments About Play Spider-Man in His 30s Hilariously Comes Back

Spider-Man actor Tom Holland turned 30 and people are remembering his quote about not wanting to be playing Peter Parker after this year.

The internet has a notoriously long memory when it comes to these kinds of things. And GQ wasn’t about to let the quote Holland gave them in 2021 go unobserved when they spoke to him this week. However, they ended up getting a pretty good answer from the Spidey star.

“It’s funny, I saw that quote pop up somewhere recently and I kind of reeled, because I was trying to remember what I meant,” Holland said. “I think the point of it is that I would love to pass the baton on, and I haven’t achieved that yet. It’s definitely something that we talk about a lot at the studio. So maybe I need to change the quote to 37.”

If you love the Spider-Man star’s mischievous streak, you will be positively delighted at his next comment from the interview. Even a Marvel star isn’t above a little humor at how strange this world can be sometimes.

“I could also have been trying to leverage Sony and scare them into thinking I wasn’t going to do Spider-Man 4 now that I had a new deal on the horizon. So I don’t know what it could have been. It could’ve been part of a strategy to create fear.”

Diabolical, and charming. Couldn’t have played it any better if he tried. Thank goodness this dude is sticking with the role for a few more years.

As we head towards Spider-Man: Brand New Day this summer and The Odyssey too, it’s been a season of Tom Holland and Zendaya. With his birthday hitting recently, it’s important to revisit exactly what the superhero said.

“Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life, Holland admitted. “If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.”

After this week, we can see how people might have freaked out about that over at the Sony Pictures offices. (Heck, probably over at Marvel Studios as well.) But, no one can stay away from the allure of this part.

Hysterically, this goes for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as well. Both actors appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It’s an honor and Holland knows that.

He even managed to get a little earnest there at the end. “I think the truth is that playing Spider-Man has been the joy of my life,” Holland offered seriously with GQ this week. “I now kind of stand on the plinth of like, I’ll do it for as long as they’ll have me.”

What’s next for Tom Holland?

Holland’s next stint in the suit is already in the can. And, people cannot wait for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Check out what his new adventure is going to include.

“After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves.”

“Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
