  1. Comic-Con Interviews: The Book of Life Will Bring Mexican Folklore to the Big Screen in a Unique Way

“As a lover of animated films, I kept going, ‘When is the Mexican story going to happen? When is the Mexican princess going to show up?’” queried director Jorge R. Gutierrez before a packed crowd at the San Diego Comic-Con press conference for his new animated feature, The Book of Life. He’s not the only one who’s been wondering when the rich folkloric traditions of Mexico, especially given their relevancy to America’s growing Hispanic population, might be mined by a Hollywood.

  2. Guillermo del Toro Describes the Hellboy 3 You’ll Never See & Updates Us on His Disney Haunted Mansion Project

    This man needs a clone.

Like most creators, Guillermo del Toro likes to talk about the projects he's working on. But unlike most creators, del Toro works on no less than 2500 projects at once.

  3. What if Ron Perlman and Guillermo del Toro Lived Together?

    i'll just leave this here

This video just might be some kind of ad for Lexus, but I don't care, it's adorable. And anyway, leave me alone, I have to finish the Necronomicon in time for Comic Con.

  4. Pacific Rim Has a Kaiju for What Ails You

    Here Be Dragons

You could be forgiven for not noticing that Ron Perlman is in Pacific Rim, because his appearances in the trailers have been of the "blink and you'll miss him" variety. But you should know that Ron Perlman is in Pacific Rim, and this is the character he's playing.

  5. New Pacific Rim Trailer Shows Us As Many Giant Robots And Monsters As We Can Handle

Warner Bros. had planned on holding out until WonderCon to debut this trailer, but the gigantic robot cat is out of the bag now. The new Pacific Rim trailer is a solid two-and-a-half minutes of huge robots fighting huger monsters, because that's exactly what people want out of this movie. They get into a little bit of the story. Something about aliens invading. I don't know. There are too many skyscraper-sized robots punching weird monsters in this thing to focus on whatever plot they're trying to convey.

  7. Guillermo Del Toro And Ron Perlman Might Finally Be Ready to Make Hellboy 3

    All this has happened before...

It's been over a year since we started talking to you all about Hellboy 3; in fact, it was right around Comic-Con 2011. But with another year, there's even further hope that more plans have been made, maybe even more drafts written. And alas, Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman have given us a shred of hope that this movie may actually happen. In fact, it may be more than a shred; hell, it may be a glimmer, or a full-on ray, considering they're both now on record as saying they're committed to bringing this thing to the big screen.

  8. Ron Perlman Dons His Hellboy Costume For Make-A-Wish, Adorable Things Happen

    Today in Awesome

We aren't likely to see a Hellboy 3 anytime soon considering comic writer Mike Mignola has ruled it out and star Ron Perlman has said about the same, but that didn't stop Big Red from making an appearance for a special cause. Perlman joined the Make-A-Wish Foundation and design/effects firm Spectral Motion to make one six-year-old's dream come true. Not only did he get to meet Hellboy, he was transformed into mini-Hellboy himself! Check out how it all went down.

  9. George R. R. Martin Is “Nervous” About the Beauty and the Beast Reboot

    and let it be known

Before he wrote his now-famous book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin wrote several episodes of the TV series Beauty and the Beast, which starred Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton. And now that the CW has announced a reboot of the series, Martin has weighed in on the new show, and is a little peeved that he wasn't consulted. And also, he is "not a fan of reboots," and the original cast and crew had been hoping to reunite for a movie. (Non-spoiler spoiler: That is not going to happen.)

  10. There Might Be a Hellboy 3, According to Its Director and Star

    and let it be known

Despite Ron Perlman's vow to never go through the makeup process again, he and director Guillermo del Toro both seem to feel that it might just be worth it to do a third Hellboy movie. The comments came during Comic Con, where del Toro was quick to point out that his projects are not always made over a short period of time. But both director and actor seem to agree that there is still more story to tell, and honestly, how do we move on when the second movie left us hanging? With twin Hellboy babies?

  12. Guillermo Del Toro’s At the Mountains of Madness Starts Filming in June

    Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn

In case you were worried that Guillermo Del Toro's film adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness, was just a crazed fever dream you had several months ago, set your fears aside. It's going to start filming in June. Producer Don Murphy (Transformers) confirmed the shoot date, though not much else is known about the production. James Cameron is also tapped to produce, and Tom Cruise and Ron Perlman are the only listed members of the cast. (Perlman confirmed his involvement in January; his character did not appear in the original novel, but will be a "no-nonsense dog sled guy." Cameron says that this will be an "epically scaled horror movie," and added, "The fans certainly won't want for a visual feast with this film." That's pretty promising coming from the guy responsible for Aliens. (io9)

  13. How Did Matthew Perry Get A Job Doing Fallout: New Vegas?

Apparently he did it by expressing his love for the franchise in the most unlikely of places: The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The View.

He was on the shows more than a year ago, promoting a movie, but while he was on Ellen he gifted his host with an Xbox and a copy of Fallout 3, saying:

I played this video game so often that I injured my hand so severely that I had to go to a hand doctor and get injections in my hand because I love this video game so much.

Apparently all that dedication (and subsequent publication of said dedication) paid off, because he'll be voicing Benny, the head of the Geckos family in Fallout: New Vegas.

  14. First Leaked Pics from the Set of the Conan Movie

No, not the other guy. Rather, this is the Conan the Barbarian reboot/re-imagining that's been slated for a release next year. The film, which started shooting in March, stars Hawaiian actor Jason Momoa of Baywatch and Stargate: Atlantis fame in the titular role (presumably because Gov. Schwarzenegger was too busy cameo-ing in the Expendables). While Momoa doesn't really have the presence his predecessor had (few people do), it remains to be seen what he's actually capable of with a sword. Check out the photos after the jump, courtesy of /Film.
