Because this is Marvel we're talking about here, everyone's been pretty tight-lipped about just how Thor: Ragnarok will go down when it beams down from Asgard in July, 2017, but Sif herself, Jaimie Alexander, opened up to LA Times about her role in the movie and how it connects with next year's Captain America: Civil War.
And I hope tomorrow's episode is better than the last time she was on!
As part of their "Art of Level 7" promotion, Entertainment Weekly and Marvel are releasing a new a new SHIELD poster by a prominent artist for purchase at the Marvel shop every week for the next three months. Last week, we got a glimpse of Raina, and this week, we are blessed to gaze upon the visage of Lady Sif!
And the good news is that it probably won't be another creepy gross mind control plotline! Because it's actually going to be another overused TV trope instead. Yaaay? (Spoilers, friends!)
And a little tiny Idris Elba Heimdall to protect your shelves!
Available this September from Funko, Odin, Heimdall, Lady Sif, and a brand new Loki.
On Thursday, April 3rd at 9 PM ET/PT something magical will happen on Lifetime. An episode of Project Runway: Under the Gunn
will feature the remaining designers coming up with Marvel Comics-inspired fashions. Marvel, you are officially winning at life.
Oh wait, I get the title of this episode now.
old gods do new jobs
After a month's hiatus, Marvel's Agent's of SHIELD
will return to screens tonight with "T.A.H.I.T.I." and soon with "Yes Men," a highly anticipated episode (by me, at least) featuring Jamie Alexander
as Lady Sif of Asgard. What's it like to borrow a cape character straight out of Marvel's movie universe? On the occasion of the end of their long break, show creators Maurissa Tancharoen
and Jed Whedon answered some questions for Comic Book Resources
and touched on the female characters close to our hearts.
And Now For Something Completely Different
We haven't written a whole bunch about Arrow
and Agents of SHIELD
as of late—it comes of the two of them being on hiatus—but with both shows returning within the week, we thought it was time to share some news items that've been piling up. Within you will find: New actors for Agents of SHIELD
spinoff, some cast quotes about Birds of Prey and the Suicide Squad,... oh, and a whole bunch of pics of Sif's Agents of SHIELD
cameo. We thought you might be interested.
We Can Cause More Damage That Way
Warning: May Contain Feelings
A little while ago, Jaimie Alexander told an interviewer that she was getting more involved with the children's hospital in LA and hoped to go in-character to hang out with the kids sometime soon. Well, she did this week, giving out posters and DVDs and letting the kids pose with Sif's sword and shield. Cuuuuuuuuuuute.
Things We Saw Today
If the movie gives her a moment half as cool as that smirk she gave after spearing the Destroyer, I'll have everything I want out of The Dark World
. (Superhero Hype
I'm In A Glass Case of Emotion
On the Iron Man 3
red carpet Bleeding Cool
caught up with Lady Sif herself, Jaimie Alexander
, to talk about Thor: The Dark World
, the trailer
for which had just been released earlier that day. The extent of the 100% spoiler-free comments she made is that the Thor
sequel "definitely [has] a darker feel" than its predecessor. Fitting, given the title.
It's her more spoilery comments about the potential for a love triangle between Sif, Thor, and Jane that caught my attention, though. Vague unmarked spoilers are behind the cut. Come have feels with me.
My Spidey Sense Is Tingling
work is officially over on Thor: The Dark World
. That means we get to hear as much as she can tell about what Sif will be up to in the film. See what the actress had to say about the Sif/Thor relationship, the new director, and how the look of the film is very much like a comic.
Good News Everyone!
In September we got the news that Jaimie Alexander
had been injured on the set of Thor 2
, but just as quickly we received, from the actress herself, reassurances that she was recovering just fine
and had sustained no permanent damage. She talked about how she got hurt, and the full extent of her injuries to the New York Post recently, however, and it turns out she was out of the shoot for a month!
i swear by my pretty floral bonnet i will end you
Hello, ladies, look at your Thor
, now back to Thor 2
, now back at Thor
, now back to Thor 2
. Sadly, Thor
isn’t Thor 2
, but if we wait long enough, eventually Thor: The Dark World
will come out to theaters. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re on a website with a bunch of new set pics from Thor 2
. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s a battle sequence on that set everybody's been taking pictures of
. Look again, the battle sequence now features Lady Sif. Anything is possible when your movie smells like wet wigs and features a kickass lady. Sif's on a horse.
You'll be able to see Idris Elba
very soon in Ridley Scott's Prometheus
, but the British actor recently dropped some hints on Marvel Studios' Thor 2
. Namely that he'll be back to take up Heimdall's mantle in the film. But as much as we love Elba, what we'd like to know is, will there be more Sif?
Good News Everyone!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios are just about to go into negotiations with their first pick for directing Thor 2
, the movie that will pick up with the God of Thunder after his first stint in The Avengers
. Their first pick?
, a director who has worked on Arrested Development
was the writer and director of Monster
, the movie that won Charlize Theron
pretty much every Best Actress award out there.
Jaimie Alexander, who has already impressed us with her actual geek cred in interviews about her appearance (as Sif) in Thor, but now she apparently would have made an awesome Wonder Woman, too?
If I got approached to play Wonder Woman, which has happened once or twice, I would have to say, "Look, let's take this serious. Let's make her a positive role model. Let's make this a non-campy version of her." Because I haven't seen that done yet. Yet that's essentially what I got to do with Sif in Thor. I got the best of both worlds.
Throw us a bone here, universe.
