Philadelphia woman’s couch vanished from her patio. Her neighbor said it flipped four floors and landed in the back, but it’s still missing to date
It vanished without a trace.

Jessica Massey (@jessica7massey) from Philadelphia told TikTok about her outdoor couch, which mysteriously went missing. After asking her neighbors, Massey still couldn’t figure out why her couch vanished.
Massey explained that her boyfriend called her on October 19 to ask where their outdoor couch went. At first, Massey thought her boyfriend was playing a prank. She claimed that the couch weighed 60lbs, making it a hefty piece of furniture to carry.
“Now, we live on a 4th-floor apartment, and there are no decks below us. So, the only way to get to our deck is through our neighbors, or if you scale down from the roof,” Massey explained. The neighbor on her right also had a patio. From there, someone could hop over to Massey’s patio and, theoretically, take their couch. She asked her next-door neighbor about their couch, but their neighbors were clueless. Her next-door neighbor added that their furniture stayed on their balcony, even after the storms.
Massey also showed that her 5lb folding table was still on her patio, so she believed that it couldn’t have just been blown away. She didn’t give up and went on a mission, like two New York City residents who became detectives to catch a parcel thief. So, Massey asked the neighbor above her about their couch. The second neighbor allegedly told Massey she saw her couch on the street and later that day saw it in the back alley.
She got into detective mode
“So, we now know that somehow, our couch flipped over that four-foot deck and landed down below in the alley,” Massey claimed. As she pieced the clues together, she pointed out that, theoretically, her 60lb couch had to flip over a tall wall and then fall all the way to the street. It was as unusual as finding a moth in a tampon.
Massey noticed that another neighbor in front had a Ring camera. So they wrote a letter requesting the video footage. Even though she requested the Ring camera footage, her neighbors said their camera couldn’t record the incident. However, this third set of neighbors also claimed they saw it on the street but assumed it was being delivered or picked up. Massey went to the neighbors below her to ask for footage. While speaking with the fourth set of neighbors about the missing furniture, she alleged that a homeless man walked by and confirmed he saw a tan-colored couch on the street. However, Massey noted that the man wasn’t so sure if he saw it on Saturday or Sunday.
“But either way, we now have three people who have confirmed that they have seen the couch outside,” Massey claimed. She called her couch’s disappearance a “mystery” because it still disappeared off the street. However, she was more perplexed that the 60lb furniture tumbled from her high balcony and landed in the back alley.
Where is her couch?
In a final video update, Massey confirmed how her couch disappeared. She said that on October 16, a tornado watch was in effect, and 60-70 mph winds swept through her city while she was away. She believes her couch tumbled off her balcony on that day. To support her belief, another woman who used to live in her next-door neighbor’s unit claimed her furniture fell from the patio too. The woman added a photo showing her furniture strewn across the alley.
“Also, the couch was in the alley outside for two days. It didn’t get picked up until Sunday,” Massey claimed. Although she knows she couldn’t get her furniture back, Massey still doesn’t know who took it after it landed in the alley. Regardless, after learning of her situation, Massey said Polywood, a furniture brand, will send her a free, brand-new couch.
