‘If you love America, you should support ICE’: MAGA blogger and staunch ICE supporter finds himself the target of immigration crackdown
He became the target of the organization he supported.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) continues its efforts to apprehend individuals across the country, despite ongoing controversies surrounding its arrests. Yet, many still show unwavering support for the agency’s actions. One MAGA blogger, however, found himself targeted by the immigration crackdown he staunchly supported.
39-year-old Samuel Sey, a man born in Ghana before moving to Canada and later the U.S., was arrested by ICE agents at the Columbus International Airport in Ohio on Wednesday, Oct. 21, while traveling, the Daily Beast reported. Booking records showed that he has since been detained at the Butler County Jail while facing deportation.
Sey, who describes himself as a pro-life advocate, teacher, public speaker, and blogger who runs the page SlowToWrite, has openly supported ICE’s mission through the years. Earlier this year, he even expressed his belief that ICE’s efforts were upholding justice in the country on his social media.
MAGA blogger is pro-ICE
On X, Sey wrote, “If you love America, you should support ICE.” However, he did acknowledge that not “every member of ICE will always do the right thing,” likening it to how even a religious institution like the Church isn’t “filled with perfect people.”
Sey even made the bold claim that God would not support the protests against ICE, and accused protestors of being “influenced by Satan,” he wrote on X. “God isn’t just against anti-ICE protestors who persecute Christians while they are worshipping at church,” Sey said in a separate post. “He is also against the idealogy [sic] of anti-ICE protestors. […] Christians who condemn the ‘protestors’ but refuse to condemn their ideology should know that.”
Earlier this year, ICE caused a nationwide uproar after agents took the lives of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, American citizens who weren’t initially a target of ICE’s immigration crackdown. While many condemned the killings, Sey came in defense of the agents’ actions, mirroring the claim that Good’s death was the result of her allegedly trying to run an agent over with her vehicle.
“The woman would still be alive if she didn’t try to run the ICE agent over,” Sey reportedly said. “You can be saddened by her death and admit that it was self-defense.”
DHS confirms supporter’s detainment
Sey’s support for ICE, however, doesn’t automatically guarantee that he’s immune to becoming a target of deportation himself. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed to the Daily Beast that Sey was arrested after overstaying his welcome on American soil.
While a donation page created on Sey’s behalf claimed that the pro-ICE blogger was a legal U.S. resident, and that his wife was working to secure his release on bail so he could resolve any clerical issues related to his legal residency, the DHS argued that Sey has no pending applications with immigration.
According to the DHS, Sey entered the U.S. legally in 2022, but had violated the “nation’s laws” when his legal stay expired over four years ago. The DHS stated that Sey will remain in ICE custody until he is removed from the U.S., with Sey reportedly agreeing to voluntary departure. However, it remains unclear whether he will be deported back to Canada or Ghana.
“We do not pick and choose which laws to enforce or where to enforce them,” the DHS spokesperson added. “We encourage all illegal aliens to take control of their departure with the CBP Home App. The United States is offering illegal aliens $3,000 and a free flight to self-deport now.”
