‘I see that you have a hierarchy of children’s lives’: Ms Rachel accused silent celebrities of valuing Palestinian lives less because of race

It is rare to see a figure as influential in the world of early childhood education as Rachel Griffin-Accurso, known to millions as Ms. Rachel, step so firmly into the center of a heated geopolitical firestorm. According to Fox News, on September 13, 2026, the YouTuber made waves by directly accusing celebrities and public leaders of racism for their silence on the deaths of Palestinian children in Gaza. In doing so, she directly challenged the status quo of celebrity advocacy.
Accurso argued how for some, there is a hierarchy of human value, explaining that racial bias is the primary reason many prominent figures have opted to stay quiet. In a post on Instagram, Accurso laid out a stark binary for the public. She divided leaders and celebrities into two distinct camps. The first group consists of those she says are willing to shout at the top of their lungs that over 20,000 Palestinian children should not have been killed in the Gaza genocide.
The second group is made up of those who remain silent. According to Accurso, this silence exists because these children are not worth it to those specific people. She didn’t hold back, stating, “They probably would say something if these kids were White and from a different place. Please stop being racist and risk something.” Her caption for the post was equally blunt, noting, “I see that you have a hierarchy of children’s lives.”
Ms. Rachel has always fought for the rights of Palestinian children
Accurso’s public stance has generated significant engagement. Her latest post alone pulled in over 158,000 likes, 2,000 comments, and 20,600 shares. However, this is not the first time Accurso has found herself in the spotlight for her activism.
Less than two weeks before this latest statement, she was confronted by podcaster Avi Lichtschein regarding her consistent use of the term ‘genocide’ to describe what he called the ‘war’ between Israel and Hamas. Lichtschein argued that when an individual possesses a platform as massive as hers, they have a responsibility to understand the real-world consequences of the claims they are amplifying.
The debate around these numbers is intense. The figure of 20,179 Palestinian children killed between October 7, 2023, and March 31, 2026, comes from a report by the United Nations’ Independent International Commission of Inquiry. This report also documented the killing of 40 Israeli children and the abduction of others during the October 7 Hamas attacks.
The Israeli government has formally rejected the findings of this commission, calling the methodology and the composition of the group fundamentally flawed. They have also accused the report of containing significant errors and omissions.
Critics have been quick to push back against Accurso
Elizabeth Barcohana, the Jewish engagement chair for the California Republican Party, recently labeled Accurso’s outrage as both fake and selective. Barcohana suggested that the educator is sanitizing terrorism and operating as a mouthpiece for a terrorist organization by relying on data from the Gaza Ministry of Health.
Accurso has faced other similar hurdles too. In January, she dealt with a controversy after appearing to like a comment on Instagram that read, “Free America from the Jews.” She apologized quickly, explaining that the like was an accident that occurred while she was trying to delete the comment.
She has consistently stated that antisemitism has no place in her life or work. Accurso has also clarified that her advocacy is not anti-Israel, but rather an opposition to the policies of the Israeli government and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Roya News states that beyond the social media posts, Accurso has leveraged her professional background in childhood development to highlight the trauma facing youth in the region. She has raised over $50,000 for organizations like Save the Children and has used her platform to feature stories like that of Rahaf, a young Palestinian double amputee.
Throughout these efforts, she has maintained that speaking out against the loss of life and the denial of basic human rights is a moral obligation. She has also faced significant personal challenges, including doxxing threats and organized campaigns from advocacy groups that disagree with her messaging.
The discourse remains deeply polarized, but Ms. Rachel is standing her ground
While supporters view her as a necessary voice for the vulnerable, critics argue that she is misusing her educational platform to push a specific political narrative. As of now, organizations like the Anti-Defamation League and Jewish Federations of North America have not provided comments on these latest remarks.
What remains clear is that the divide between those who demand vocal advocacy and those who believe public figures should remain neutral in such complex conflicts is only widening. Accurso’s refusal to back down despite the backlash suggests that this is a conversation she intends to keep having, regardless of the criticism she continues to receive from various political corners.
