For anyone doubting diversity, it’s time to have a seat. Hidden Figures is the number one movie in the country after raking in $22.8 million, thus dethroning Rogue One and exceeding expectations in the process. Yes, the film about three brilliant black women who helped launch John Glenn into space was the most-watched film this weekend. This is huge news considering one of the major arguments against diversity is that a film starring a person of color won’t be a major box office draw. As this and other movies like the Fast and the Furious franchise have already proven, that certainly isn’t the case.  (via The Hollywood Reporter)
