Apparently Sirs Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen Won’t Have Roles in X-Men: Apocalypse

While I was on an insane high from hearing Sophie Turner and Saoirse Ronan might play young Jean Grey in X-Men: Apocalypse, I have found a new low in hearing we likely won’t be seeing Sir Patrick Stewart or Ian McKellen at all.

What do we know so far about X-Men: Apocalypse, the follow up to X-Men: Days of Future Past? Hugh Jackman is basically in, but no real surprise there. It also looks as if Oscar Isaac is set to play Apocalypse/En Sabah Nur, James McAvoy is meant to lose some hair, and Bryan Singer is directing the film set in the 1980s and including the First Class cast plus younger versions of Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey.

Yahoo reported Stewart speaking with Larry King who asked him directly if he’d be in the film:

No. Nor Sir Ian McKellen, either. I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters. And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.

Though to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if this turned out not to be the case in the end. You may recall it was pretty late in the game when Stewart joined Days of Future Past.

Regardless, while I love to watch them in anything I’d actually be OK with Stewart and McKellen being excluded from the next film so the story could spend more important time elsewhere – Storm’s mohawk styling.
