NASA Navigator for Apollo Missions Found Dead in Thailand With Rope Tied Around Genitals

There are probably worse ways to go. It's certainly hard to name any of them right now, though.

We’re sad to report today that a former NASA official who worked with the space agency during the storied Apollo missions has been found dead in his home in Thailand’s Tak Province. It grieves us further to report that the body of NASA navigator Paul Milford Muller was found by police in a rather compromising position — hanging from a doorknob with a rope around his neck and another tied around his genitals.

Thai police said that Muller had probably been dead for three days when his body was discovered, and that there were no indications of assault or foul play. That the room Muller was found in was also full of methamphetamines and sex toys seems like nearly an afterthought.

What doesn’t seem like an afterthought, though, is Muller’s latest book. The erotic thriller Suicide Inc. features the shadow of a noose on the cover. That just seems like unpleasant foreshadowing on the part of the NASA navigator turned author.

We’re not here to tell anyone how to live their lives or cast judgment, but this does seem to serve as a reminder that certain sexual exploits are only to be undertaken with the greatest possible care and after safety protocols are in place. There are things that can just go wrong, even if you are a rocket scientist.
