Ebay Has Banned The Sale of Magical Items, Now We’ll Fail Potions For Sure

Oh Ebay. You were there for me when I was 12 and able to convince my mother that I absolutely needed a crappy alarm clock with James Marsters’ face on it, and you’re here for me now as I struggle to buy college books and make rent. Unfortunately, it looks like you won’t have my back when I graduate next year and need a spell that will ensure me a well-paying job right out of college: in their 2012 Fall Seller Update, Ebay announced that it will ban all sales of magic potions, charms, and spells effective August 30th.

Watch Just the Magic From All Eight Harry Potter Movies [Video]

YouTube user The Cussing Channel is famous for supercuts narrowing down specific parts of movies (Just the Jawas in Star Wars, Just the Joker in The Dark Knight, etc.), but they’ve really outdone themselves this time. This is all the magic spells in the entire Harry Potter movie series — about 17 minutes of it. And it’s the fastest 17-minute video you’ll ever watch.

It’s also really funny to watch them get better at casting the spells as they get older, because they sound positively drunk in that first movie. By the end, you’re remembering that feeling from last summer, when the series was finally ending, and as fast as it goes, you’ll still get a lump in your throat.

Magic: The Gathering Tournament Participants Not Immune To Sexism

Jackie Lee recently competed in Wizards of the Coast sponsored, Magic: The Gathering Baltimore Grand Prix. She faired well in her matches, making it to the semifinal round, but ran into a huge problem once she got there. The livestreamed semifinals led to anonymous insults being thrown at her, simply for being a woman. Not that it would make a difference but no, these weren’t comments from her opponents, just random viewers of the match.

There Is a Real Library For Magic In Manhattan [Video]

One thing is for certain: If Hermione Granger was real and living in New York City, she’d be at this library reading every single book in it (again). The Conjuring Arts Resource Center in midtown Manhattan holds 11,000 books about the history of magic “and its allied arts” (which includes psychic phenomena, hypnosis, and slight-of-hand techniques) and functions primarily as a research library. Don’t you love it when things like Hogwarts and Ray’s Occult Books join imaginary forces to form something real?
