  2. MTV Greenlights Their Shannara Season, Taps This Summer’s TMNT Reboot Director to Exec Produce

    Shannabunga!

"Oh, cool, that Shannara series MTV was considering got picked up. Not a lot of info yet... wait, who'd they get to run this thing?" It's not the Transformers: Age of Extinction writer co-producing a live-action Dumbo movie, but it's weird. (Yes, I know the pic I used is from the Shannara computer game, not one of the books, but it speaks to me on a deep emotional level.)

  5. Sticking to the Original Blueprints Keeps Iron Man 3 Working

    Review

“The world is getting weird,” declares faithful former bodyguard Happy (Jon Favreau) early in the first act of Iron Man 3. He’s not wrong. Everybody’s favorite genius billionare playboy philanthropist is back for a fourth round, facing a changing world, and a changing self. After the invasion of New York, and the start of the Avengers, there’s plenty on the table for Mr. Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) to handle, from terrorists to his mercurial relationship to his own obsessions. Fortunately for us, though, IM3 doesn’t take too steep of a dive into Tony’s demons. It stays at a neat cruising altitude: charming, effusive, with requisite explosions aplenty. Much like the most used and battered of Tony Stark’s suits, Iron Man 3 has some loose pieces that rattle, but it holds together for a fun, familiar ride. Material under the cut contains arc-reactor-powered SPOILERS. Read at your own discretion.

Reporters have been scrambling to get quotes from any number of people but someone finally managed to track down both J.J. Abrams, Jon Favreau, and more to get their thoughts.

  9. Villains Cast For Thor 2 and Iron Man 3, Plus Happy Hogan Returns!

    Excelsior!

The casts of Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 are still coming together, and for once, we actually know which villain will be antagonizing one of our beloved Marvel heroes. Ashley Hamilton, who recently competed on Dancing With the Stars and is best known (for some of us) for being married to Shannen Doherty for five seconds (thereabouts), is set to play Firepower in Iron Man 3 alongside a currently undisclosed villain being played by Sir Ben Kingsley. And while the villain has not been confirmed yet for Thor 2 (besides Loki), Danish actor Mads Mikkelson (Casino Royale) is in talks to take on Chris Hemsworth's god of thunder. And while he is in no way a bad guy, Jon Favreau will be back as Happy Hogan in Iron Man 3!

I'll bet you're wondering if he'll be the lead villain! And I'll bet you're wondering if that villain is the Mandarin. we loled

  17. Shane Black Will Write and Direct Iron Man 3, Making It a Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Reunion!

    hold on to your butts

After a lackluster Part 2, the Iron Man franchise will be rejuvenated thanks to Hollywood wunderkind Shane Black, a guy who not only gets along great with his new star Robert Downey Jr., but a guy who can write successful blockbuster screenplays in six weeks time. The two first worked together on Black's first directorial effort, 2005's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which had a $15 million budget and was about a petty criminal who accidentally finds himself cast in a Hollywood film. Obviously, none of that will come into play for a Marvel movie, but it proves that the team of Black & Downey is a very, very fun one.

  18. Cowboys, Aliens, and Freddie Wong [Video]

In a surprising turn of events, director Jon Favreau apparently approached Freddie Wong and company to make a video to help promote the upcoming Cowboys and Aliens. According to Wong's post on Reddit, the entire project was Favreau's idea.

Jon's kid apparently LOVES our stuff - they've been watching our videos for months. Jon wanted to do something with us so he basically pulled a bunch of weight and told Universal to let us do ANYTHING. That meant shooting on the Universal lot for free, props and wardrobe from the movie free for our use, equipment, etc. It was a dream come true. So we came up with a ridiculous concept where it was basically cowboys versus the FreddieW channel, and sent it by him, and he was totally down.
How does this match-up of cinematic minds fair? Pretty dang good by the look of it. (via Reddit)

  19. Jon Favreau Gets Harrison Ford to Sit Down For an Interview [Video]

We Have Done the Impossible and That Makes Us Mighty

Notoriously interview-averse Harrison Ford has delighted us all by granting his Cowboys and Aliens director Jon Favreau a seven-part interview ahead of the release of their movie. In the clips we've selected for your viewing pleasure, Ford and Favs discuss hats, improvising for George Lucas, and what happens when Ford reads a science fiction script. (Hint: be glad the script doesn't feel pain.) There also may or may not have been a promise -- by Ford -- to make a naughty film with co-star Daniel Craig.

  20. New Trailer for Cowboys & Aliens

    Almost Totally Excellent

Every now and then, I remember that there is a movie coming out this summer where Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig ride horses, do shots, and cock six-shooters, while fighting aliens. And I know that in a worst-case-summer-scenario where all three Marvel movies are yawn-fests, Green Lantern is a hot emerald mess, Captain Jack is played out, and Super 8 is a total wash: There is no way that Cowboys & Aliens could not be entertaining on at least one level, even if it's not a very good movie. Does Jon Favreau know how to pick trailer music or what? (via Digital Spy.)
