The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently filming in New York and while that means we’re seeing shots of Andrew Garfield’s upgraded costume (which looks basically the same) floating around, it’s also yielded us our first look at Shailene Woodley’s Mary Jane! Two more shots of the new redhead after the jump!

If you’re booked on Ellen it’s a known fact you will probably be asked to dance at some point during the show. The context may not always be the same but it’s always something to watch. In this particular instance Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield was asked to perform several different types of dances on the spot. For each one he got correct, $1000 would go to charity. The thing is, most of the dances required some significant pop-culture awareness, something I’m sure not a lot of actors actually have considering they’re too busy being a part of that very culture. Regardless, Garfield pretty much nailed them all. Give it a look.

If you were one of those fans happy Mary Jane Watson was left out of the Spider-Man reboot, I’m sorry, she’s back. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is looking to cast both Mary Jane and Harry Osborn. One actress is already up for the role plus, we’ve got some rumors on who the villain might be!

Was there ever any doubt? As of yesterday, floppy-haired Peter Parker Andrew Garfield has officially signed on star in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. Also announced is the return of director Marc Webb, which was in doubt due to Webb being contractually obligated to direct a film for Fox. But all that’s been worked out (dare we say… untangled?) now.

Andrew Garfield‘s really taking this whole superhero thing to heart. He and Emma Stone, upon finding themselves stalked happened upon (what a crazy random happenstance!) by paparazzi while enjoying nice lunch in New York City over the weekend, took advantage of the cameras pointed their way to put some good vibes out into the universe, whipping up a pair of cardboard signs to support charity organizations Worldwide Orphans Foundation (WWO) and Gilda’s Club, named for legendary comedienne Gilda Radner, which provides emotional and social support to New Yorkers living with cancer:

Watching The Amazing Spider-Man, there was one adjective that kept coming to mind, and it wasn’t “amazing.” The Serviceable Spider-Man doesn’t have the same ring to it, though.
Maybe that’s getting off to an overly negative start. I didn’t think it was a bad movie, understand. But… look, going into this summer, I was really excited about the trio of superhero movies set to make their silver screen debuts. (The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises… not that you need reminding.) And sorry, Spidey, but assuming The Dark Knight Rises is even half as amazing as it looks, there’s only one of those three that I foresee slipping from my memory like star systems through Grand Moff Tarkin’s fingers, and it’s yours.

Some of you may recall that there was a half-serious internet campaign a while back supporting the casting of Donald Glover (Community) as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the upcoming reboot The Amazing Spider-Man. That obviously didn’t come to pass, and Andrew Garfield got the role instead. (Though Glover and Garfield “talked it out” in the end.) But now, Glover has revealed that the spirit of that campaign lives on and will actually materialize in some shape or form in The Amazing Spider-Man. Yes, you heard that right — Donald Glover, or at least something related to him, will make it into Spidey.

According to Topless Robot, the clip above is part of a promotion by Kellogg’s, featuring bite-sized portions of The Amazing Spider-Man in a format that is more smartphone-friendly than computer-screen-friendly, but showing off some of the personality that Andrew Garfield has given his character. And that personality is … a little bit of a jerk! But a funny one. So, it’s all perfectly acceptable.
