A Random UFC Fighter Insults Michelle Obama, The Internet Sighs

UFC Freedom 250’s most-talked about moment isn’t anything from the actual fights. It’s one of these athletes insulting Michelle Obama.

The White House played host to UFC Freedom 250 over the weekend. And, unfortunately the spectacle was all out there for the world to see. Josh Hokit used his moment in the sun to call the former First Lady a man in front of God and country.

Joe Rogan put a microphone in front of Hokit’s face after he defeated Derrick Lewis in Round 2. As is the case with the UFC a lot of the time, these fighters are fishing for soundbytes. With a massive conservative audience on The White House’s South Lawn, the fighter couldn’t help himself.

It’s pretty jarring for a man to look directly into the camera after thanking his “Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” and say “And, lastly, Michelle Obama is a man! Am I right, America?”

But, that’s the shot that Hokit decided to take on his way out the door of the Octagon. That about sums up the vibes of the entire UFC Freedom 250 package.  People who are watching this live on Paramount Plus or through other means were combat sport die-hards.

However, a lot of them were MAGA movement supporters who delighted in the idea of getting to see their politics take center stage despite the historical precedent or any sort of other cultural concerns that might prevent you from building this massive stage mere feet from an institutional landmark.

To be blunt, the racial optics are a big selling point as well!

Why do conservatives love calling Michelle Obama a man?

Here we go, this is a lengthy explanation. But, the findings are concrete and have been fact-checked by numerous news sources. Reuter’s Fact Check Team did an excellent job on this piece.

In reality, the whole Michelle Obama conspiracy theory has ties to racism, sexism, of course an increased microphone for the current right-wing policy the Trump Administration employs in the United States.

For a lot of MAGA supporters, Obama is still Trump’s biggest rival. It doesn’t help that the President himself cannot seem to stop insulting them in subtle and overt comments. Barack Obama hasn’t been in office for almost a decade now.

However, through both the “birther” conspiracy theories and these “Transvestigations” on Michell Obama, you get ways to “plausibly” de-legitimize the first Black President of the United States and his wife.

From a conservative viewpoint, the idea of womanhood looks like a certain actress hawking jeans before anything else. So, everything in contrast to that portrayal of beauty must be a ruse or conspiracy of some kind.

Is Michelle Obama a man named Mike? No. And, giving this stuff airtime on a massive stage like this weekend’s only serves to remind us how many different ideological Americas exist.

So, Hokit won his fight and got a small pop out of the crowd. But, he also threw a coded message to the MAGA base at the same time.
