The Onion Has Outdone Itself With a Huge Document Dump of Trump “Leaks”

The Onion has long been a high marker for American satire. But what is a site to do when they have a stated rule of "no low-hanging fruit" at a time when all fruit in sight seems to already be rotting on the ground? How do you make clever satire of Donald Trump, a distinctly and proudly unclever man?

One of The Onion‘s Jokes Came True: Overstock.com To Launch Streaming Service

Does the O have it? O, we do. O.

That's not a pithy "Not The Onion" style joke we're making here about the ridiculousness of such a concept. This is a real thing that the satirical newspaper legitimately predicted two years ago. May God have mercy on all our souls.

The Onion To Debut New Website Parodying Buzzfeed and Upworthy

I can't make a sub-header joke when I'm writing about The Onion. That's flying a little too close to the sun.

Onion A.V. Club Animates Patton Oswalt’s Story of a Magical Black Man

Patton Oswalt Tells the Story Of A Magical Black Man Who Haunted His Early Career

Patton Oswalt is known for a lot of things like acting, writing, and voicing cartoon rodents, but he is first and foremost a brilliant standup comedian. That's not always an easy life, especially when you're first starting out. In the first episode of the new series Stand Down by The Onion A.V. Club, Oswalt recounts the tale of a magical black man who haunted his early career. The story is better than the animation itself, but they come together nicely.

Neil deGrasse Tyson Thinks The Onion Deserves A Pulitzer [Video]

Famous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has come out with a video in support of The Onion news network. Literally Unbelievable, a Tumblr Devoted to People Who Think Onion Articles Are Real

This looks promising: Literally Unbelievable is a new Tumblr that screencaps outraged Facebook comments on Onion articles from people who either haven't noticed that the article in question is from The Onion or simply don't know that The Onion is a satirical publication. As it so happens, there are a lot of these people. The blog's creator writes: "I curate the site and wanted to make it clear that these people are being completely earnest. Certainly I saw a good number that were inside jokes, ironic posts or trolling, but the ones I posted are 100% the real deal." (Literally Unbelievable via Gorilla Mask)

Onion News Network has done up another one of their haw-haw-making, (presumably) fake news reports, dually inspired by Iron Man 2 fandom and the Gwyneth Paltrow backlash, titled "Iron Man 2 Buzz Heats Up Over Rumors Gwynyth Paltrow Gets Punched in the Face." Spoiler alert: it's really funny.

Wisconsin Declares Its State Microbe: Lactococcus lactis

In yet another example of real news almost being less believable than The Onion (no really), last week Wisconsin declared that Lactococcus lactis was the official state microbe.

The New York Times reports:

“The first time I heard the idea, I thought, I’ve got more important things to do than spending my time honoring a microbe,” said Gary Hebl, a Democratic state representative who proposed the bill which, he says, would make Wisconsin the first state in the nation to grant such a designation. “But this microbe is really a very hard worker.”
