We got an early look at South Park: The Stick of Truth at this year’s New York Comic Con and we were looking forward to its December release, but that’s no longer happening. The game’s been delayed until 2014, but it’s not all bad news. The new seven-minute “Giggling Donkey” gameplay trailer is pretty great.
This isn’t the game’s first delay, but hopefully it’s the last. Trey Parker and Matt Stone said in a blog post on the Ubisoft site:
We always wanted the game to feel like you’re actually in an episode of South Park. Getting the game up to the crappy standards of the show has been a real challenge and we’re excited to say it’s taken way longer than we thought it would.
The new date is March 4, 2014, so it’s not that much of a delay, but if you were hoping to give or get the game for the holidays you’re out of luck — unless you give gifts on National Grammar Day.
Obviously the delay is a bummer, but in the meantime, check out the new gameplay footage as the kids enter the Giggling Donkey:
- Last month was the first time South Park missed their insane deadline
- EA straight up canceled that free-to-play Command & Conquer game
- Someone recorded an entire album on a modded Game Boy
