Melbourne woman went on a railway park tour in South Korea when her cart brakes failed. The couple she slammed into tried to charge $500 for injury

Bella (@siabellabeauty) from Melbourne, Australia, went to South Korea and booked a tour on her free day. Although she was mostly satisfied with her trip, Bella alleged she was almost scammed out of $500 AUD at an unnamed railway park.

“There was one day on my trip where I haven’t had anything planned, so I decided, what better way than to book a f****** tour?” Bella shared on TikTok. She went to Alpaca World, Nami Island, and a railway park. Bella noted that it rained heavily throughout the day, but she still went to the railway park and was given her own cart to drive. The tour guide allegedly told them to stay 10 to 15 meters away from the cart in front of them.

“Everyone was in groups, but because I was solo traveling, I had the carriage to myself,” Bella said. The carriage in front of hers belonged to a local Korean couple. Bella claimed that at the beginning, the couple kept stopping their carts to read signs. She claimed the tour guide advised park-goers not to stop their carts and to keep driving forward. Nevertheless, she kept her distance from the couple ahead.

“Now, there was one part of the railway track that was quite a steep hill. And at the bottom of the hill was a sign,” Bella said. As she came down the hill, she said she was roughly 50 meters from the couple. She hit her brakes. However, Bella alleged that the brakes skidded out and stopped working. Despite the malfunction, Bella said she kept hitting the brakes, believing that they would eventually start working.

Her tour literally went downhill from here

“But because it was wet and I was going downhill, I was progressively getting faster, and the brakes just weren’t working,” Bella alleged. She started shouting at the couple in front of her to go faster. Bella also told them her brakes weren’t working. But instead of driving forward, she alleged that the couple stopped driving altogether and turned to look at her.

“We ended up colliding. Was the collision that bad? No, it was not that deep whatsoever,” Bella claimed. Unlike this man who woke up with multiple injuries after a car crash, Bella said the couple didn’t even spill out of the cart. Although Bella insisted everyone was fine, the couple in front of her was visibly upset. Bella was upset that the couple stopped in the middle of the tracks even though they could have driven ahead. She was also frustrated that the railway park allowed the tour to happen, even though it had rained heavily.

“I noticed throughout the railway track that whenever I was going on a downhill slope, they did not click in whatsoever. But when I was lying on a flat surface, they would work,” Bella said of the brakes. Regardless, she and the couple in front of her made it to the end of the railway track. She wanted to check on the couple and explain that her brakes had malfunctioned. However, Bella alleged they kept running off and didn’t want to speak with her. They boarded a train and reached the final stop of the tour when a railway park employee approached her.

They were allegedly injured by the collision

The couple allegedly claimed they were injured because of the collision. Bella asked where they were injured, and the employee allegedly replied that he didn’t know. Bella relied on her tour guide’s translation, and based on the translation, the couple allegedly asked for compensation for the collision.

“I understand, but first of all, they’re not injured. Secondly, they’re complaining about one of the girl’s hands hurting. But there was nothing in front of us to smack your hand on even if we had a really bad collision,” Bella alleged. She claimed that even if the couple fell forward, a significant gap separated the seats from the front of the cart. Bella also confronted the railway employees and told them that the park should be held responsible for putting her in a cart with faulty brakes. The employees allegedly denied responsibility.

Bella said another man defended her at the scene. He allegedly claimed that something similar happened to his brakes while going downhill and said that the railway company should be responsible. The man also found it strange that the couple was asking for compensation when they haven’t been medically tested yet. He asked how much the couple was requesting, and Bella said they were asking her for $500 AUD. Upset by the number, Bella told the railway employee to call the cops. She also told the employee to call an ambulance, since the couple claimed they were injured.

Threatening a lawsuit

The employee called the cops, and they spoke with the couple first. When the cops spoke to her, Bella alleged that even they didn’t know what to do in the situation because, while the couple claimed to be injured, the cops claimed they looked fine and were not requesting an ambulance. Nevertheless, they asked for her side of the story, and Bella told them what happened. The cops advised her not to give the couple money, and they only stayed to keep things civil between Bella and the couple.

“The couple’s visibly getting pissed off at this point, ‘cause they clearly just wanted to make a bank out of me,” Bella alleged. Frustrated, Bella said she called her father, whom she claimed is educated about the law. He allegedly told Bella that the railway should be responsible for damages if her brakes stopped working. With that knowledge in mind, Bella went up to the employee and threatened to sue the railway park.

“If this couple try to sue me, I’m going to sue you guys,” Bella allegedly told the employee. The couple allegedly kept insisting she pay, so Bella left her contact information and told them to inform her after they’d gone to the hospital and found any issues.

“I’m not stupid. I’m the furthest thing from stupid,” Bella commented. But Bella isn’t the only disgruntled tourist who managed to keep her money in her pocket. A woman from Washington, D.C., allegedly avoided a scam by her Uber driver after canceling her booking.
