Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story

The Full Solo: A Star Wars Story Trailer Finally Gives Us Han

Recommended Videos

Last night, during the Super Bowl, a teaser for the Han Solo prequel movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story, was broadcast for all the world to see, but it was largely missing one important element: Han Solo. (Though we wouldn’t blame you if that’s not what you’re in this for anyway.) He had some voiceover and over the shoulder shots, only showing his smug face at the last moment, but in the full trailer from this morning’s Good Morning America, he’s the focal point.

And he seems … fine. Alden Ehrenreich had his work cut out for him playing one of the most iconic characters in film—a role Harrison Ford wound up in a bit unexpectedly because he was just that perfect for it. It was always going to be difficult to live up to that, especially with this movie taking place at a different time in Han’s life, when he was a probably a bit less cantankerous than we find him later on anyway. I mean, even the Millennium Falcon isn’t exactly how we remember it:

It looks like a piece of Imperial tech this way—or the plain white hallways of Cloud City before the special editions got through with them. All that is to say that a new, younger Han Solo was always going to be jarring, and he is in this trailer, but we’ll have to wait for the rest of the movie to say whether that was minimized as much as possible.

On the other hand, we’ve got plenty more from this trailer that we are unapologetically hyped about, including the heist movie feel with a team being assembled:

Donald Glover as Lando steals the scene every time.

There are also some colorful new posters:
