You Won’t Need a TARDIS To Meet the Doctor on Doctor Who‘s First International Tour

The World Doesn't End Because the Doctor Dances

The BBC has just announced that Steven Moffat, Peter Capaldi, and Jenna Coleman will be visiting seven cities in five continents this summer as part of an international, whirlwind Doctor Who tour. Are any of those cities yours?

According to their press release, the tour represents a first for the series. Beginning on August 7th and ending on August 19th, the two leads and their show runner (though, due to scheduling, Moffat will not be present at each tour stop) will spend their time publicizing the imminent premiere of Doctor Who Series 8, the first full season for Capaldi’s regeneration of the Doctor. From the release:

The tour marks the largest ever promotional undertaking in Doctor Who’s 50-year history and will kick off in Welsh capital and home of the series’ production, Cardiff, before taking in London (UK), Seoul (South Korea), Sydney (Australia), New York (US), Mexico City (Mexico) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). More details of the itinerary will be available from doctorwho.tv soon, as well as reports from the tour as it happens, which fans everywhere will be able to enjoy across social and digital platforms.

With the series already reported to premiere in August of this year, it seems natural that the tour might reveal something about its timing more specifically. Could we be looking at a premiere date of August 16th, in the midst of the tour? Or August 23rd, the first Saturday evening following it?

Mark your calendars, Whovians, and mark the BBC’s site for more updates on what to expect if you’re lucky enough to live near a stop.
