Last week we told you that there were rumors Bradley Cooper was being offered the role of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy. Now according to an official release, he’s definitely in. I feel like I should be upset about this, but Batfleck has sucked me dry of any and all casting-related emotions.
The release Marvel put out last evening describes Cooper thusly:
Cooper has previously starred in “Silver Linings Playbook,” for which he was nominated for an Oscar®, “Limitless,” “Place Beyond the Pines” and the “Hangover” trilogy, the latter of which has grossed $1.4 billion globally. He will next be seen in “American Hustle” which will reunite him with “Silver Linings Playbook” director David O. Russell. “Guardians of the Galaxy” will mark Cooper’s first voiceover work.
Hey yeah, he was in Silver Linings Playbook! I didn’t hate that movie. Okay, he’s not Jason Statham or Bill Murray, but maybe we can get behind this after all. It could always be worse, after all.

- Admittedly I was not happy when the rumors first made the rounds
- But in a post-Batfleck society, anything is possible!
- Worse comes to worse, Kevin Rose can toss him down a staircase
