New York City Woman Gets Asked on a Date. The Man Wants to Cover the Bill Under One Condition: ‘Mistakes Were Made.’
Dating is all about trial and error. But unfortunately for Alysha Carson (@goldenoreoe1) from New York City, a first date she went to would be her last after the man had supposedly said something inappropriate to her when the bill arrived.
Carson told TikTok that she had blocked the man’s number and Instagram after their date. But before the events of the date, she said that she had met him at an event where they worked together. He had also been allegedly pursuing Carson, asking her to meet up and go out with her. She thought about it, since the man was younger than him. But based on their prior interactions, Carson thought the man was nice.
She was eventually persuaded to go on what she believed to be a date with him.
“Mistakes were made,” she said about her decision to go out with him. The man made a restaurant reservation and told her he’d be meeting her at a certain time. Everything seemed to be going well between Carson and her date.
She had been with him for two hours at the restaurant, having a bit of sangria and tapas. It seemed better compared to what another woman from New York City experienced, who had walked away from her date before food was even served on their table. But Carson’s experience wasn’t perfect.
“There were definitely some flags that were raised,” Carson stated. Although she was being open-minded, she noted that the man did not want to talk about religion or politics. Carson was suspicious but dismissed her thoughts.
Then, they reached the end of their date. The waiter brought the check.
The date went south when the bill arrived
It seems that dates fall apart when the bill arrives. One man even insisted that his date and all women should pay the bill because they deserve to be “taxed.”
Rather, the bill sat on the table for about fifteen minutes.
“You asked me out, you wanted to see me. It’s the first date, you should be paying for it,” Carson said. The waiter came over in a bit, and they asked the couple if they were going to pay soon. Then, her date started getting serious and feeling for his wallet.
“Just to be transparent, this wasn’t a date necessarily,” the man suddenly told her. Then, the man suggested splitting the bill if she wanted to. Unexpectedly, the man asked Carson about her dating history.
She said she hasn’t been on a date since February because she has been working on herself and wanted to date more intentionally. When she returned the question to him, the man said that he was starting a new job soon and that he wasn’t looking for anything serious. He then suggested that their next hangout could be an official date.
Then, his attention turned to the bill once again.
“I could pay for this now if you wanna give me some [expletive],” the man laughed. Essentially, the man implied that he would pay for their meal in full if Carson agreed to sleep with him. Carson claimed that when the man made that offer, a man from a nearby table turned over to look in what appeared to be surprise.
“That’s wild to say in front of other people,” Carson commented. After feeling disrespected by the comment, Carson told her date that she was going to use the restroom. She eventually walked to the front exit and left without sparing him a glance.
