In an interview with Radio Big Boy, Samuel L. Jackson revealed that:
The Avengers‘ should start shooting some time next year, and then some time after that there’ll be a big ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ movie.
That’s right. A S.H.I.E.L.D. movie.
For those unfamiliar (and I had to go nose around on Wikipedia in order to make sure I had my facts straight), this would be something like Samuel L. Jackson playing an immortal James Bond who fights things from other dimensions.
Try to tell me how that wouldn’t be awesome.
Already there are some doubts about how true Jackson’s statement actually is. Cinema Blend points out that he misquoted the names of the actors playing both Captain America and Thor, and worry that he’s maybe not as certain of the facts as one might hope.
We would like counter by reminding everyone that when Samuel L. Jackson says something, it happens. Purple lightsabers and Snakes on a Plane being the most obvious examples. A S.H.I.E.L.D. movie may very well have not been in the cards until he said it, but we hope it is now.
Oh, and apparently David Hasselhoff played the part of Nick Fury in a ’90’s TV movie? We have recovered this archival document:
