Houston Man Pays $30 for DoorDash With Express Delivery. Two Drivers Allegedly Steal His Food, and DoorDash Denies His Refund Anyway
The only thing dashed was hope.

Houston resident Mario Reynolds is done playing nice with DoorDash after what he calls a night of pure chaos. He paid $30 for a Wendy’s order with express delivery, only to watch two different drivers allegedly steal his food and then get hit with a refund denial. Now he’s taking his frustration to TikTok, vowing to post daily until the company fixes the mess.
The saga started when Mario placed his first order around 9 p.m. He tipped well and paid for express delivery, expecting his food to arrive quickly. Instead, the first driver canceled the order while waiting in line at the restaurant. DoorDash automatically assigned a second driver, who soon texted Mario with bad news.
The restaurant claimed the first driver had already picked up the food. Essentially, the first driver had taken the food and bailed, leaving the second driver empty-handed. DoorDash refunded Mario’s money but told him to place a new order since they couldn’t reassign the existing one.
Mario reordered his meal, this time with a new driver
The driver picked up the food but then took a bizarre detour, ending up on the other side of his apartment. When Mario tried to guide her, she insisted the GPS had given her the wrong address. The situation escalated when she abruptly canceled the order, only to mark it as complete moments later.
DoorDash refunded him a measly $6, a fraction of the $30 he’d spent. When he called customer service, they promised to escalate the issue but later emailed him to say his refund request had been denied. Mario’s first TikTok video, where he vents his frustration, has gone viral. He doesn’t hold back, calling out DoorDash for letting drivers allegedly steal his food twice in under an hour.
“Y’all let these DoorDashers steal my m***********g food two different times within a one-hour time span, and don’t give me my m***********g money back?” he says in the video. “B***h, what the f**k is wrong with y’all?” His raw, unfiltered reaction has resonated with viewers, many of whom have shared their own horror stories about food delivery apps.
He said DoorDash messaged and then ghosted him
In a follow-up video, Mario reveals that DoorDash initially reached out to him via direct message but then went silent. “Y’all commented on my post earlier today, like hours and hours and hours ago, we was DMing back and forth and then y’all went ghost on me,” he says. He’s now doubling down on his promise to post daily until he gets his money back. “I don’t mind,” he adds. “We’re gonna be doing this every day.”
The third video in his series answers the question everyone’s been asking: what was he even ordering? The answer is surprisingly simple. Mario’s order consisted of Wendy’s Baconator fries, a bacon cheeseburger, six nuggets, a vanilla shake, and a strawberry parfait. “It’s nothing special,” he admits. “All I was trying to get was some Wendy’s.” By the time his food finally arrived, he was too frustrated to even eat it. “I didn’t even want it,” he says. “I was tired.”
DoorDash’s refund policies have come under fire before, with many customers complaining about inconsistent resolutions. The company typically allows drivers to cancel orders for various reasons, but Mario’s case highlights how easily the system can be exploited.
When drivers cancel orders after picking up food, customers are left in limbo, often forced to reorder and pay again. DoorDash’s customer service has also been criticized for being slow to respond and offering little recourse in cases of driver misconduct.
For Mario, this is about holding DoorDash accountable
His TikTok videos have struck a nerve, with commenters joking that his Wendy’s order must have been so good, they’d have stolen it too. Others have shared their own stories of drivers canceling orders last minute or delivering the wrong food. Some have even suggested he take his complaint to small claims court, though Mario seems focused on getting a refund through DoorDash’s review process.
If you’ve ever had a food delivery go wrong, you know how frustrating it can be. But Mario’s experience takes it to another level. Two drivers allegedly stealing his food in one night, followed by a refund denial, is the kind of nightmare scenario that makes you question whether delivery apps are worth the hassle.
For now, Mario is keeping the pressure on DoorDash, one TikTok video at a time. If his persistence pays off, it might just set a precedent for how the company handles similar cases in the future. Until then, if you’re ordering food late at night, you might want to double-check your driver’s route.
