We broached the topic of geeky names for children and pets earlier this week on Facebook. We were not expecting this.

This is Batman as a Banana. Not to be confused with Bane as a banana. For the next week, Gimmick Tees is selling this design by artist Walmazan for $15 (with free shipping!). And guess what? It’s available in not one, not two, not three, but FOUR women’s styles. Check them out after the jump!

Shortly after Beyonce’s rocking Halftime show/impromptu Destiny’s Child reunion last night, and less than two minutes into the second half of the forty-seventh Super Bowl, half of New Orleans’ Superdome went black (or at the very least, quite dark) from a power outage that lasted more than half an hour. And many a nerd across America stood up from their couches, smirked, and said “This is where Bane walks out, right?”
Hey, we watch the Super Bowl too, you know. At the very least to see the movie trailers, eat food, or because we learned to love the game in marching band.
So just in case you are one of those nerds and thought that you might possibly be alone in making that connection, I’ve gathered together some evidence to the contrary. Because maybe it wasn’t Bane who shut down the Superdome. Maybe it was… Baynonce.

Inquiring minds want to know: Did Mike’s Amazing Cakes just clean one of the egg beater whisks they used to make this awesome Dalek cake and then use it for decoration? (via That’s Nerdalicious)

Besides the artist who repaints character dolls, I’d probably say Hot Toys does the best job at replicating an actor’s precise looks in doll form. Their Loki, based on Tom Hiddleston’s character in The Avengers, still takes the cake for me but their recently revealed Bane from The Dark Knight Rises also does a pretty great job looking like actor Tom Hardy. This is also the first Hot Toys figure I’ve seen with its shirt off, which is vaguely uncomfortable. You’ll see why…

Have you been sitting on the edge of your seat ever since we posted the first installment of Batman Shampoo vs. Bane-Ana? I know I have. There were a lot of unanswered questions. Will Batman Shampoo succeed in his plan to clean the hair of everyone in Gotham? Or will Bane-Ana manage to dirty everyone up again by putting banana in their hair?
Well worry not, my friends, for Batman Shampoo Returns is here. With special guest star Conditioner Gordon.

So maybe Bane’s face being covered by a mask, coupled with his accent, meant that he was a bit hard to understand during The Dark Knight Rises. If that gives people room to dub over his scenes with freestyle rapping, I’m all for it. Whoever this guy is, his Bane voice is scarily accurate. I’m not 100% convinced it’s not Tom Hardy, unable to let go of the character. If you like this, check out Auralnauts’ extended edition of their “Bane outtakes,” in which Bane is obsessed with strawberries.

The first post of a Monday morning is one that I usually use for cute videos completely unrelated to the general content of the site. I realize that this video may be stretching the definition of “cute.”
But it does have a banana in a Bane mask in it, so there you go. Happy Monday.
