We’ve all had those awkward family moments, haven’t we? Take Wynonna and Waverly. They’ve been minding their own business, sending Revenants back to hell, and all of a sudden Wy runs into her long lost (and supposedly dead) sister in a cult compound. Oh, and supposedly dead sister doesn’t remember her past! AND she can use her great-great granddaddy’s magic gun, which is a thing that has been defining Wy as of late. Can’t wait for Canadian Thanksgiving!
So Eve, who is actually Willa, is passed out on Waverly’s bed while the Earp sisters and Gus try not to freak out about this kind-of-a-big deal situation. Dolls shows up with confirmation that Willa is indeed Willa, based on Wynonna’s DNA sample. Wynonna is wracked with guilt over the fact that they stopped looking for Willa a long time ago. There’s also the whole thing about who the actual heir is now. Willa wakes with a fright, and her nightmare is confirmed. She sent Lou to hell, and how! Dolls advises Willa to lay low for a bit until things become more clear.
Somewhere else in town, two dudes are breaking into a heavily locked shed. One man tells the other not to make eye contact with the very hungry inhabitants. So what do they do? Make eye contact with the very hungry inhabitants, who happed to be two gorgeous and demonic twin sisters.

The three sisters head into Willa’s old bedroom, where everything is the same as the day she left it. Unfortunately, nothing rings any bells for Willa. We also get a little clue that Willa may have been a bit of a bully back in the day, based on her stuffed animal torture. Willa is distraught by all this information, so she strips down and heads off to take a nap. When Waverly and Wynonna are alone, Waverly’s frustration about Willa begins to show. She tells Wynonna she’s heading off to see Officer Haught (Nicole if you’re nasty) before the town’s big poker tournament. Wynonna glibly questions if they’ve become best friends, and Waverly shoots her a look of “whatevs, Wynonna.”
Ah yes, the Purgatory Poker Spectacular. It’s a thing. High rollers are heading in to town, and BoBo isn’t happy that Judge Cryderman is asking him to cater to these fat cats. BoBo’s is more of a “peanut shells and bullets on the floor” kind of place. BoBo mentions that in a few short days, he’ll be free from the ties that bind him to Purgatory. Cryderman then hands BoBo a package full of strange green crystals. BoBo sends Cryderman off with a promise that the police and Black Badge will stay out of his hair. The demonic twins then arrive to offer Bobo some, ahem, carnal assistance.

Outside of BoBo’s, Cryderman runs into one of the high rollers, a guy named Stokes with a briefcase full of cash. After some pleasantries, Cryderman sends Stokes off to his room at the hotel, which he promises is the best of the bunch. I’m sure it’s four star, Judge. Stokes arrives and is greeted by the twins, who proceed to steal his money and give him the most horrifying blowie ever.
At the homestead, Wynonna and Gus have a heart to heart about Willa’s return. For Gus, it’s like a missing piece has been found. Wynonna’s feelings are more complicated. They searched for Willa for six months, but gave up once her bloody nightgown was found. Wynonna knows the key to all of this is to help Willa get her memories back, and Willa wants that too. They head outside where Wynonna tells Willa everything about the Revenants, the Curse and their family. Wynonna admits that the true heir was supposed to be Willa, and when she hands her sister Peacemaker, Willa is struck with a long buried memory of her father training her to shoot. It knocks a bunch of other memories loose and Willa is overjoyed to remember her family. Willa takes aim at a can and shoots it like Peacemaker is an extension of her own body. Dolls interrupts this sisterly moment to pick up Wynonna for some investigating. She leaves Willa at the homestead to process all these new memories.

It appears Doc isn’t so good with motor vehicles. His kingdom for a horse! He’s stuck on the side of the road, but luckily, a man pulls up alongside him and offers his assistance. Well, until Doc pulls a gun on him. After some apologizing, the man sticks around to help.
Waverly and Willa get a chance to spend some time together, and for some reason, Waverly decides to tell Willa all about her funeral. Talk of their father’s death brings on a new, vivid memory of Willa’s capture by the Revenants. When Willa goes to touch Waverly’s arm, Waverly recoils. Knowing that she scares Waverly, and that her memories are full of pain, Willa runs off.
After Stokes’ hotel room was discovered covered in blood, Dolls and Wynonna get all suited up for action. Dolls can’t help but notice that Wynonna is distant and distracted. He gets his partner to snap out of it so they can see if Stokes is still alive somewhere in the warehouse, where his smartwatch is pinging a signal. Wynonna stops him before they bust down the doors to confess her new self-doubts about who she is, now that Willa is back. Thing is, Dolls only wants one Earp fighting by his side. AWWW.
They head in and soon enough, Wynonna stumbles across one of the twins having a human snack. The twin tries to use her succubus-eye trick on Wynonna, but Wy isn’t into the ladies, so it doesn’t work. Dolls finds Stokes’ arm, and his smartwatch, along with the twins. Their eye trick works on him though. The twins can sense something powerful inside of Dolls (it’s a Lizardcat!) and fight over who gets to eat him. Wynonna to the rescue! After a shovel to the face and a Peacemaker shot back to hell, Wynonna eliminates one of the twins. Dolls chases after the other one. They do a little dance and Dolls gets the twin to confess why she’s doing what she’s doing. All paths lead to the Judge. Dolls then spins her right into the path of Peacemaker. Wynonna then gets a call from Waverly that Willa has run off into the night.

Now it’s dark and freezing, but the good Samaritan is working on Doc’s busted Caddy. Doc tells the man that he doesn’t have a fixed direction—rather he’s more of a drifter. The man calls Doc on his bullshit, and calls a spade a spade. He’s running. The man talks about feeling lost after his time at war, and how completing a mission can feel like the loneliest thing in the world. While Doc is going through the man’s toolbox, he finds an old-timey US Deputy badge. In fact, it’s Wyatt’s old badge that Doc tossed into the fire a few weeks back. The next thing Doc knows, the man is back in his car, beckoning Doc to come and have a drink of hot chocolate.
Doc is hella pissed and demands to know who this man really is; he pulls a gun again, but is easily disarmed. The man, whose name is Juan Carlo, says it’s all rather complicated, but that he and his associates are particularity interested in the Ghost River triangle. Juan Carlo warns Doc about the Winter Solstice, which happens in four days. (BoBo connection!) “Four days until the door opens, and if it does, she will lose, Doc.” Juan Carlo isn’t messing around. Doc’s ears perk up at the thought of Wynonna in distress. Juan Carlo tells him to run, or stay and fight. It’s his choice.

Wynonna isn’t exactly thrilled that Waverly showed Willa all that stuff about her death, but they track the eldest Earp down at BoBo’s. Willa is about 10 shots deep when the sisters find her. She’s also being hit on by a Revenant. Ew. Waverly heads outside to get the car, and just then the Rev asks Willa about Lou. She freaks out but Wynonna is there to back her up. Turns out Willa is an angry drunk. She’s pissed at Wy, pissed at their dad and pissed at the world. When the Rev who was hitting on her says some nasty things, Willa grabs Peacemaker and shoots him right in front of everyone, including human civilians with camera phones. Wynonna can’t believe what just happened and tells Willa to fight their way out old fashioned way—with barstools and fists.

The Earps return to the homestead, with Dolls hot on their heels. He’s not too happy about Willa putting a giant target on Purgatory’s back, and Willa doesn’t really appreciate him telling her what to do. Wynonna defends Dolls, but Willa makes her doubt her allegiance. Wynonna heads out to Doc’s old barn, and Willa follows her to apologize. She admits having some anger management issues. Willa remembers playing with Wynonna as a kid and the two bond over it, as Waverly watches quietly from a hiding spot.
BoBo arrives to survey the damage at his bar, and one of his right hand men tells him it was the two Earp girls. Well, two OF the Earp girls, which BoBo discovers when he sees the video of Willa.

In a car outside of the homestead, a bunch of men in winter camo and big guns prepare an assault. Inside, Dolls and Waverly have tea and a chat about the mole in Black Badge and how having Willa back is a double-edged sword. There’s not much time to chit-chat though, because they’re soon under siege. Dolls does his best to push Waverly out of harm’s way, but she whips out a shotgun of her own to defend them. Willa and Wynonna, who were in the barn, launch a surprise attack on the men. Waverly is shot, but by the power of the Queer Internet’s collective prayer circle, it’s just a flesh wound. Wynonna wants to stay with Waverly, but Willa runs back out after the men. She’s ambushed, but a wild BoBo appears and saves her. Wynonna arrives to find BoBo and aims Peacemaker at his head. She would have send him right to hell, but Willa pushes her and she misses. Willa tells Wynonna that BoBo saved her, which just confuses the hell out of Wy.
After things calm down, Wynonna dresses Waverly’s wound. Wynonna tells her that dudes dig scars, but Waverly asks if chicks do too. It throws Wynonna off a bit, and I love that Waverly is testing the waters with her sister about her newfound bisexuality. It’s something countless queer folks have done to see if their loved ones will broach a conversation that can feel daunting as hell. Wy doesn’t take the bait, but it must leave a small imprint. Dolls does some digging and discovers the Earp sisters weren’t the target of the siege: he was. Just then, a stunned looking Willa walks in and asks Wynonna for all she knows about BoBo.

Speaking of the devil, BoBo has Cryderman delivered to the bar. Cryderman claims he thought he was doing what BoBo wanted, and begs for his life. BoBo orders Cryderman to throw him a big party. Well, that was unexpected, but okay.
In a bit of déjà vu, Doc’s caddy starts a-smoking again and stops in the same exact spot. But this time, he’s facing the other direction. He pops the hood, and before he can get back on the road to Wynonna, he’s hit in the head by a stranger and dragged off. Damn this vulnerability to being hit in the head with a tire iron!
