A West Virginia Woman Says Her Boyfriend Found What Appears to Be Half a Human Tooth in His McDonald’s Fries
McDonald's says it's investigating after the West Virginia woman posted photos and video of the object, which has not been independently identified

Most people expect to find an extra fry at the bottom of the bag. One West Virginia woman says her boyfriend bit into something much harder to stomach than a soggy fry from McDonald’s: what appeared to be half of a human tooth.
The woman shared photos and a TikTok detailing the experience after her boyfriend allegedly discovered the object inside an order of fries from a McDonald’s in Flatwoods, West Virginia. According to her, she immediately contacted the local health department, reached out to McDonald’s corporate, and began posting about the incident across multiple social media platforms.
“This, my friends, is half of a tooth,” she says in the video while holding up the object for the camera. “Isn’t that just absolutely lovely?”
She claims her boyfriend returned to the restaurant after finding it in his food, but says employees only offered a refund.
“A refund? I’m sorry. Do you want your $6 and some change back? McDonald’s, you need to do better.”
The woman also questioned how something like this could have happened in the first place.
“I don’t see how someone can just lose a tooth and not realize it,” she says. “Like, how do you not realize a tooth just fell out of your head?”

McDonald’s Says it’s Investigating
After the video began circulating online, the woman posted an update saying she had heard back from McDonald’s.
According to the update, a company representative contacted her and said the incident is being investigated. She added that the employee she spoke with was “super nice” and that the company plans to work with the supplier of the fries to determine what happened.
She also clarified that she isn’t trying to damage the company’s reputation.
“McDonald’s has been a favorite to most of us growing up from childhood to adulthood,” she wrote. “I’m not wanting to ruin the business in any way, shape, or form.”
She also reiterated that she had notified the local health inspector.
Viewers Couldn’t Believe What They Were Seeing
As you might expect, commenters were simultaneously horrified and just plain curious by the alleged discovery.
Many questioned how a tooth (or something resembling one) could make its way into a sealed food product, while others urged the woman to preserve the object in case investigators wanted to examine it.

Some users speculated that it may have originated earlier in the food supply chain rather than inside the restaurant itself, especially given the woman’s update that McDonald’s reportedly planned to contact the fry supplier. Others weren’t convinced it was a tooth at all, suggesting it could be a fragment of bone or another hard material. At this point, the object’s identity has not been independently confirmed.

Regardless of what the object ultimately turns out to be, it’s certainly not the kind of surprise anyone hopes to find buried beneath a serving of fries. For now, the investigation appears to be ongoing, and hopefully it will provide an answer that doesn’t leave customers checking every bite before they eat it.
