“Unsettling and Weirdly Dim”: Redditors Call Kim Kardashian’s Chicago SKIMS Store a Sterile Dungeon
The dimly lit rooms and giant faceless sculpture have Redditors wondering whether they walked into a clothing store or a horror set.

Kim Kardashian’s Chicago SKIMS store is getting roasted on Reddit after photos of its dark, minimalist interior and massive faceless sculpture resurfaced online. While Kardashian posed inside the store, Redditors were less interested in her outfit and more concerned over the lack of lighting and surplus of a giant headless sculpture.
The reactions appeared in a recent r/KUWTK Reddit thread featuring photos from Kardashian’s visit to the Chicago location. One of the most popular comments criticized the store for looking “extremely dark and sterile,” while another person who said they had visited the location compared it outright to a dungeon.
And somehow, the dungeon comparison isn’t even the strangest part. The photos also feature an enormous nude, faceless female sculpture stretched across the floor, with Kardashian casually posing on top of it. One Redditor called the sculpture creepy, while another argued that it isn’t really a mannequin at all since its positioning makes displaying clothes on it rather difficult.
Despite Kardashian previously sharing that she doesn’t believe in the Etsy witch, some social media users are playfully convinced that there might be some witchcraft happening at this particular SKIMS branch.
Five Nights at SKIMS, Anyone?
The combination of dim lighting and the enormous sculpture gave Reddit exactly the material it needed. One commenter wondered what it would be like working there at night if the giant body suddenly started moving before dubbing the whole thing “Five Nights at Skim’s,” a reference to the horror game franchise Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Unfortunately for the Chicago store, the complaints didn’t stop upstairs. A commenter who said they had been to the location called it their least favorite SKIMS store and described its lower level as particularly unpleasant and strange. Another person chimed in to point out the number of unusual rooms downstairs.
The first commenter returned with perhaps the most ominous review imaginable for a clothing store: the lower floor was “unsettling and weirdly dim.” Apparently, the Oakbrook location fared much better in their personal SKIMS rankings, while another commenter offered some love for the Dallas store.
At Least the Employees Escaped the Roasting
Not everybody in the thread hated everything about the Chicago location. One person specifically interrupted the design roast to say that the employees at the store were “SO nice.” So, congratulations to the Chicago SKIMS staff, who appear to have escaped Reddit’s metaphorical dungeon completely unscathed.
There were also people who simply liked seeing Kim Kardashian at the store. One Redditor called her a “Generational baddie,” while another said they were impressed by how seemingly ubiquitous she is.
Still, it’s hard to compete with “Five Nights at Skim’s” once the internet has spoken. A giant headless sculpture, dimly lit rooms, and dungeon comparisons certainly make for a memorable retail experience, even if perhaps not the cozy kind.
SKIMS sells shapewear, but apparently the Chicago store is giving some Redditors nightmares for free.
