Drunk shoplifter accidentally drops stolen items from his coat, blames humiliating arrest on 6”2 female worker: ‘She wouldn’t give me her number’
Retail workers definitely don’t sign up for this.

Craft stores are generally reserved for browsing yarn aisles on quiet Sunday afternoons and overspending on seasonal holiday decor. But every so often, retail chaos infiltrates their quiet corners in the face of a shoplifter or a drunkard. Or maybe, both.
In a TikTok storytime, creator Madi Max (@soft.cuddlebunny) looked back on her days working retail at Joann Fabrics. She specifically recounted an incident of an intoxicated shoplifter trying to play Romeo and criminal mastermind at the same time. The result? The local craft hub turned into an accidental slapstick comedy routine.
The hilarious routine started as an unhinged flirtation attempt. But it ended with dozens of stolen markers across the linoleum floor and the furious perp screaming from the back of a police cruiser.
An intoxicated man turned the fabric section into an amateur comedy club
According to Max, the incident kicked off when a man stumbled through the automatic sliding doors carrying an open, uncovered liquor bottle. He was allegedly actively taking swigs as he roamed the aisles. But rather than laying low, he allegedly zeroed in on Max’s coworker.
The man was reportedly nursing an unprompted, aggressive crush and loudly peppering the coworker with wildly inappropriate remarks. At one point, he allegedly started pointing at rolls of material, declaring that she would look stunning in lingerie made out of the textiles.
The coworker in question, however, was thoroughly unbothered. Max described her as “one of the scariest women, in a good way… no less than 6’2”, and she could brawl.” The coworker found the entire spectacle hilarious and simply fired sharp quips right back at him.
She was reportedly keeping him distracted while Max and the rest of the crew covertly waited for law enforcement to arrive. Max explained that retail policies typically forbid floor staff from physically tackling shoplifters. However, the shoplifter made an investigation completely unnecessary by exposing himself.
The shoplifter dropped his cover along with dozens of paint markers
Holding a multi-pack of high-end Posca paint markers, the man reportedly yanked a single pen out and shoved it toward the coworker, demanding to know the individual price. When she clarified that he had to purchase the complete box, the man clumsily fumbled the marker onto the floor.
When he bent over to retrieve it, gravity delivered instant justice. “He drops it on the floor, he leans over, and as he leans over, I kid you not, no less than 80 markers fall out of his coat. They’re just falling out,” Max laughed.
However, the man was still entirely oblivious to how compromised he was. He allegedly kept dropping stolen merchandise from every pocket while trying to maintain his suave pickup routine. But the charade soon wrapped up when responding officers entered the building and slapped handcuffs on him.
Furious that his romantic overtures had resulted in a squad car ride instead of a date, the man allegedly threw a tantrum from the backseat. He screamed out the window that the entire arrest was the coworker’s fault for rejecting his advances. He swore that he would have vanished into the night if she had simply handed over her digits.
“This is because that b—tch would not give me her number! If she gave me her number, I would have left,” the man allegedly shouted. But the employee wasn’t about to let him have the last word. She laughed heartily and shouted parting insults: “It’s ‘cause you’re ugly! You’re ugly and you’re fat!”
And that’s a reminder to never hit on a six-foot-two cashier while your coat is practically bursting with eighty stolen pens.
