The one-upmanship of BB-8 toys continues! The newest contender for definitive BB was designed entirely out of LEGO parts by master builders Mark Smiley and James Garrett (yep, even BB-8’s spherical body is officially LEGO–Smiley and Garrett re-used a plastic sphere that was initially part of Subulba’s Podracer set). If you’d like a rolling Beebs for yourself, head over to LEGO Ideas and submit your vote. If 10,000 fans show their support, LEGO may consider making it an official set. (via Gizmodo)

In more BB-8 news, here’s a Star Wars fan video where BB-8’s bleeps and bloops are replaced by the voice of Donkey from Shrek. It works…oddly well. (via Laughing Squid)

Orphan Black producers are being sued by screenwriter Stephen Hendricks, who alleges the show is based on ideas from his screenplay Double Double. Hendricks alleges that he sent Double Double to Temple Street’s David York and David Fortier (now the executive producer of Orphan Black) in October 2004 for their consideration, but that they passed on the script. The Hollywood Reporter writes,

In March of 2013 Hendricks discovered Orphan Black and realized it contained the same ideas and themes of his screenplay, specifically “the clandestine development of clones and the resulting journey of the protagonist to discover her origins” […] “The similarities between the Series and the Screenplay are so substantial that it is a virtual statistical impossibility that the former could have been created independently from the latter,” wrote attorney S. Michael Kernan in the lawsuit.

The complaint also claims several Orphan Black characters, including leads Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) and Felix (Jordan Gavaris), parallel characters from Double Double, as do settings, plot points and the overall mood.

Sony has released a statement on the recording contract Kesha is currently trapped in with Dr. Luke, the producer she alleges raped and drugged her. According attorney to Scott A. Edelman, who represents Sony,

Sony has made it possible for Kesha to record without any connection, involvement or interaction with Luke whatsoever, but Sony is not in a position to terminate the contractual relationship between Luke and Kesha. “Sony is doing everything it can to support the artist in these circumstances, but is legally unable to terminate the contract to which it is not a party.
