The Internet Helps Restore Teenage Girl’s Stolen TARDIS

In a story we’ve reported on before, Kaitlyn Iadevaia and her father spent months hand-building a replica of the TARDIS from Doctor Who. Then some jerk stole it, straight out of their back yard. Then, thanks to the magic of the internet and the kindness of strangers, artist and carpenter Anthony Pego decided to restore it.

Seeing the “missing” posters put up by the Iadevaias, Pego reached out to Reddit, serving as the catalyst for three dozen others donating their time, money, and labor to rebuilding the TARDIS in what they’re calling the “TARDIS Restoration Project.” The group even delivered the structure to the Iadevaia’s home in Little Axe, Oklahoma this weekend. This time around, they’ve chained the structure up securely.

“I’m just really happy,” said Kaitlyn. “It just really amazes me to see how many people cared enough to do this for me.”

In other words: People can be really, really awesome sometimes.
