Steve Bannon Teased Donald Trump Third Term, Said ‘We’re Working on 5 or 6 Different Alternatives’

Is there any legal way that Trump could actually secure a third term.

Steve Bannon Gives Legitimacy to Trump’s Jokes of Becoming President for a Third Time, Says ‘We’re Working on 5 or 6 Different Alternatives’

President Donald Trump has been floating the idea of contesting the presidential elections for a third time for quite some time, despite the Constitution explicitly not allowing it. However, this time, one of his right-hand men is playing around with the idea, even going so far as to reveal that the logistics surrounding it are being figured out.

In a 2025 video that has gained renewed attention on social media, Executive and former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, speaking to MSNBC, says he isn’t keen on amending the Constitution for Trump to become president again. But he said he is looking at various alternatives, among which a few could ensure that outcome.

“We’re working on 5 or 6 different alternatives that President Trump could run again and be president, and quite frankly I think 4-5 of them are gonna work,” Bannon said. He added, “On the afternoon of January 20th, 2029, Donald Trump is going to be president for his third term.”

Trump spoke about a third presidential term during the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner

A recent instance where Trump brought up the topic was during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner held on July 24, 2026. The event was held after the earlier event was canceled due to a shooting incident

During a speech he gave at the event, Trump mentioned that he had won three times, including defeating former President Joe Biden in a “rigged election.” He then added, saying, “Now, I’m going to do it again. It should be easy. I’m getting very good at running for president.”

However, he cannot “do it again” because the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution restricts him to two four-year terms. In that case, unless the Constitution is amended, this doesn’t seem like a possibility. That said, there are certain loopholes to play with, but they come with limitations.

Trump says “law is strong” against him becoming president again

Trump also spoke about wanting to become president again just last week. According to The Hill, standing on the tarmac of Joint Base Andrews just before boarding Air Force One, he spoke with reporters and said, “I’d love to run, but the law is very strong.”

Trump also mentioned that he is asked questions on the topic by “everyone.” Then, referring to the audience at the Patriot Games where he had just come back from, Trump said, “Even tonight, they’re screaming at the event, ‘2028!’ No, everybody wants me to do it, but the law is very strong.”
