If you, by some infinitesimal chance, happen to be one of the two winners of yesterday’s $587.5M Powerball jackpot, then have we got something you’ll most certainly want to spend your abounding disposable income on: This solid gold LEGO brick being sold at the paltry sum of $15,000. Rest assured, this isn’t some grandiose knockoff, this is a 100% official building piece straight from LEGO itself.

The current holder of this rare item, an independent LEGO store known as Brick Envy, details the history behind the golden brick in its description on the product page:

This brick is 25.65g of 14K gold (0.8246 troy oz). The brick is the same size and shape as the original 2×4 LEGO brick.

This incedibly rare piece was given to LEGO employees that had 25 years of employement at the Hohenwestedt, Germany factory and was also given to couple of very special business partners of LEGO of the time. It was only given out from about 1979-1981, only one or 2 per year from my understanding.

This amazing brick comes in its original display box which features the LEGO logo of the time that it was given out. The box itself is plastic and has a minor amount of storage wear on it.

Not only is this a relic once used by LEGO to reward its employees for their unwavering extended servitude, but the fact that it dates back to the late ’70s/early ’80s makes it totally retro and something that needs to be bought and held within your sweaty palms now. Hurry, before some goober swipes it and ruins the golden brick by turning it into an overpriced necklace to be sold on Etsy!
