Marvel’s Moon Knight Disney+ series has had three episodes release so far (with a fourth one arriving tomorrow), and yet, there still seems to be some hesitation from people on whether or not they should watch it. First of all, yes, you should. The Oscar Isaac-led series brings us into the world of Marc Spector, a man who has dissociative identity disorder, who is the avatar for the Moon God known as Khonshu.
We start the series with his alter named Steven Grant, a museum shop worker who has no idea what is happening in his “dream” life. He thinks that he has incredibly vivid dreams until it is revealed to Steven that Marc Spector was fronting and taking over his body in those moments. Throughout the first three episodes, we got to explore the dynamic between Steven and Marc and how they grew into more of a shared existence in their body, rather than a battle between whoever was fronting and the alter left behind.
All of this is setting the scene for an incredible introduction to Marc and Steven in the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe (and hopefully we’ll get to see his third alter, Jake Lockley, soon) and is easily one of the best shows we’ve gotten from the Marvel world on Disney+ yet.
Writer Jeremy Slater and directors Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead all create a rich world that brings us an Egypt like we’ve never seen before in the western Hollywood scene. (Meaning it actually looks like Egypt and isn’t the yellow-filter world we’ve been fed.) Has all of this convinced you to watch the show yet? Because it should! But as a treat, let me tell you about Oscar Isaac sitting in his underwear, shirtless.

Now, the show is inherently sexy because Oscar Isaac is playing Marc Spector and Steven Grant. So, watching two Oscar Isaacs having a conversation with each other is a gift from the gods themselves. But then, at the end of episode 2, “Summon the Suit,” we see as Marc has control of the body and goes to Egypt for answers with Khonshu.
While Steven is sitting in the reflection of the broken mirror, looking at Marc, the camera pans over to reveal a shirtless Marc Spector on the floor with a bottle of alcohol in his hand. This shot? It should come with a warning label.
Like … honestly, someone save Steven Grant, who has had a rough couple of days. The scene isn’t the first time we’ve seen Marc in the body, but it is an energy shift from how Steven is when he’s fronting. Marc is more confident, more jaded, and a man who has felt the weight of the world on his shoulders and is trying to cope with it.
The shot of Oscar Isaac’s back throwing open these curtains? Going to live rent free in my mind for the rest of my days.
Moon Knight is one of those shows where you are watching for the plot. The plot also includes a shirtless Oscar Isaac as a treat because the creatives behind it know how to give us a little gift.
