Almost everyone loves birthday freebies. Stopping by your favorite places to collect these rewards makes the special day even sweeter. When receiving one, it should elicit excitement. However, the sight of the woman’s Sephora Glossier Cloud Paint birthday reward was a gift of disappointment.

What are birthday rewards at Sephora?

Since 2007, members of the company’s Beauty Insider Program have received a birthday reward. While it is free in-store, they must spend at least $25 to redeem this online. Typically, members can choose from a list of available travel-sized birthday gift set options, including makeup, skincare, fragrances, and more.

What rained on this woman’s birthday parade?

TikTok creator Hajra (@itshellohajra) shows a box of Glossier Celebrate You Sephora reward gifts, which include the Cloud Paint blush and three perfume samples. When she folds back the cardboard flaps and opens the box, the viral audio from Nathan For You starts to play.

“And here we go,” the audio says. “ I hope you’re hungry…for nothing.” Then, the content creator unveils the blush paint on her bed to over 261,000 viewers: the tube is small, wide, and narrow, about the size of a palm. As she zooms in on the container, the print reveals it’s approximately 0.13 fl oz.

Needless to say, the content creator is disheartened. “What happened to Sephora’s birthday rewards this year?” Hajra asks in the text overlay.

She continues to express her confusion in the caption, writing, “No shade it’s really cute it’s just.. [minuscule].”

Viewers were at a loss for words

In the comments section, viewers echoed Hajara’s feelings and were equally shocked by the size of the paint blush.

“How did they make mini even minier???!” one viewer remarked.

“Sample sizes is crazy idk,” another commented.

Even a former Sephora worker was critical. “Girl as an ex employee, i was SO disappointed by the gifts this year,” they stated.

On the other hand, some tried to cheer her up by noting how long the blush would last.

“I have the full size glossier blush, and it’s still going strong. It’s been THREE AND A HALF YEARS,” one commenter shared.

“I have this blush! i have the full size and its genuinely lasted me a year and a half. This mini will last you like a month or two if youre a heavy blush user,” a second reassured.

A common Sephora complaint

Recently,  Sephora’s birthday rewards have been stealing customers’ joy. The discussion surfaced on the r/sephora subreddit. Like Hajra, the Redditor selected the same birthday gift and posted a photo of it next to a quarter, which is about half the size of the blush paint. “A very merry unbirthday to us,” they wrote above it, fading under it, “I know it is popular discussion that the Sephora birthday gifts are… small. But I’d like to show you exactly how small. Ha!” Several Redditors concurred by condemning it.

“Bro I swear these gifts get smaller every year. At this point they’re just giving us vibes and samples of samples,” one user said.

“I guess it’s a one time use. It’s only to wear on your birthday!! yeah that’s tiny,” a second agreed.
