Robin Williams’ daughter has had enough of AI videos of the actor: ‘Leave him out of your delusional b—s—’

Zelda Williams is once again demanding that creators stop using artificial intelligence to generate videos of her late father, Robin Williams. According to Complex, she addressed the recurring issue on X on Monday, September 21, 2026, after spotting another AI-generated clip of the actor circulating online. This specific video depicts the legendary performer discussing conspiracies. Zelda did not hold back in her assessment of the technology or the people behind it.
She called out the clip for being a poor imitation of her father. Zelda stated, “That supposedly ‘private video’ of dad that I’ve been shown talking about conspiracies is clearly AI, and not even particularly convincing AI.” She added, “Anyone who claims to be a fan who believes it clearly listened to his movies on mute because that voice is robotic and terrible.”
The frustration felt by the family is palpable and justified. It is incredibly unsettling to see a beloved public figure’s likeness weaponized to spread misinformation. Zelda pointed out the irony of using a deceased actor to push specific narratives. She wrote, “That said, a human made a robot create it, and to you I say: leave him out of your delusional b—s— and let him rest.”
Zelda also posed a direct challenge to those who create such content
“If you cannot make your case without making a dead man make it more convincing for you, then tell me: who’s the one manipulating the public thru media now?” This is not a new battle for the director. She has been vocal about the unauthorized use of her father’s image for a long time.
Back in October 2025, she used Instagram to ask people to stop sending her these videos. She shared a firm message at the time. “Stop believing I wanna see it or that I’ll understand, I don’t and I won’t,” she explained. She also expressed her desire for people to show some basic respect. “But please, if you’ve got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It’s dumb, it’s a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it’s NOT what he’d want.”
The recent post on X shows that her stance has not softened. She expressed a deep frustration with the current state of online discourse. “I hate this cesspool of an app,” she wrote. “It’s mostly bots and people willingly being duped by bots at this point so not sure why I feel the need to come back to clarify, but I love him, so I will.”
Zelda concluded her statement with a clear, direct plea for boundaries. “Just because he’s gone does not mean he’s now your puppet. Have some shame.”

Williams brought his magic to iconic films like Jumanji, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, Hook, and Mrs. Doubtfire. He died in 2014 at the age of 63, and his daughter Zelda was 25 at the time. Since his passing, his likeness has become a common target for AI enthusiasts. These creators often ignore the ethical implications of their work.
The family is taking proactive steps to protect his legacy. Variety reports that just last month, Zelda and her siblings, Zak and Cody, revived their father’s Instagram account. They did this specifically to fight back against the rampant AI abuse of his voice and likeness. It is a necessary move in an era where deepfakes are becoming increasingly common. Seeing his image used for conspiracy theories is a particularly egregious example of this technology being misused.
Zelda has established herself as a creative force in her own right. She made her feature directorial debut in 2024 with the film Lisa Frankenstein. The project was written by Academy Award winner Diablo Cody. Despite her professional success, she is forced to police the digital afterlife of her father. It is a difficult position for any family to be in. The constant influx of AI-generated content can be invasive and deeply disrespectful.
Using someone’s likeness without consent, especially after they have passed away, crosses a line. It is a clear violation of privacy and dignity. Technology should not be used to turn legends into puppets for personal agendas.
