Robbie Amell Returns to The Flash as the First Firestorm…Sort Of

Killer Frost! Killer Frost! Killer Frost!

Now, I love Franz Drameh as the new Firestorm co-host Jay Jackson (along with Victor Garber’s Martin Stein), and am thrilled that we have a superhero of color added not only to The Flash, but to the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow. However, it’s always nice when a show finds interesting ways to bring back former cast members. The first Firestorm is back! Sort of.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Flash showrunner Andrew Kreisberg confirmed that Robbie Amell is returning to The Flash as the first Firestorm. How is that possible? Why, Earth-2, of course! Says Kreisberg:

You can’t keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he’s back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm.

While it’s great that we’ll be getting “Evil Firestorm” to spice up the proceedings on The Flash, the real reason I’m excited about this is because it also means the arrival of Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost! On Earth-2, Ronnie Raymond and Caitlin Snow are still a couple — but as Deathstorm and Killer Frost wreak a lot more havoc than the Ronnie and Caitlin we know from our Earth. I’m so excited to see Panabaker suit up at long last!

The Flash Season Three premieres on January 19th.
