Ultimate Fantasy: British Architects Want to Build an Actual Minas Tirith

How much would it cost to build Mordor?

MinasTirith

We all know this probably isn’t going to happen. Just take a look at the Indiegogo page for this campaign, which aims to create an actual life sized Minas Tirith. Sometime in the next 50 days, they need to raise a little less than $2.9 billion dollars to get this campaign funded. To give it some context: $2.9 billion is how much Lord of the Rings made in box office salesThe entire trilogy.

All of that money is apparently going to construction, maintenance, and other labor costs of creating what could only be described as every Tolkien nerd’s fantasy come true. Hell, if you pay enough, you could claim your own home inside of Minas Tirith, complete with a 100-year lease—because of course you can.

Our suggestion? Talk to Mr. Hobbiton himself, Peter Jackson, who recently constructed Bag End behind a false bookcase in a fake torture chamber (?!) in the basement of his palatial New Zealand estate. You can just hear Robin Leach now, can’t you?
