High schooler tried shuffling her group’s prom seating arrangements after a last-minute addition. A suggestion made her lose half her friends instead

Chrissy (@cxtenn) tried to rearrange her friend group’s prom table seating when one of them added a date at the last minute. When she suggested a fix, Chrissy said her friends turned on her, and she lost half of them by the end.

“Storytime on how I lost all my friends in high school,” Chrissy told TikTok. She shared that it happened on senior year. During that year, they had homecoming and prom, and the incident with her friends happened during prom season.

“Guys, don’t mess around high school prom, okay? There are so many stakes, so many things people have to worry about,” Chrissy warned. The biggest problem she and her friend group had was picking which friends would sit at the same table. Only ten people could sit at a table, and Chrissy had more than ten friends.

“It’s a friend plus their date, and not everyone’s date went to our school,” she added. The dates had to be counted in the prom seating arrangements, so she and her friends had to organize their table. Chrissy admitted tensions started rising because of the table seating arrangements, but eventually, she said they were able to cut their table down to just eleven people. It was still above the maximum capacity, and Chrissy tried to trim the table without stepping on toes or hurting feelings.

One suggestion made her friend group implode

The friends took the issue so seriously that Chrissy said they would be on Zoom calls from 10:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., trying to figure out who to seat where. “The reason why we have eleven is because yes, we have all our core friends at our table, but then, last minute—last minute, one of our core friends decided to bring a date from a different school to our prom,” Chrissy explained. She claimed that most of the friends were upset with their core friend, whom she called Rebecca, for bringing the date. Chrissy said Rebecca wanted to bring her date because he couldn’t go to his own school’s prom. She said Rebecca “felt bad” for him, even though Chrissy and their other friends didn’t know him well.

Chrissy clarified that the guy was nice. He wasn’t like this Houston woman’s friends, who started beating her birthday organizer. However, Chrissy emphasized that they were already struggling with their seating arrangements. She said the other friends told Rebecca not to bring the man along, while trying not to be mean about it. However, Rebecca allegedly didn’t want to compromise. Although Chrissy said Rebecca is one of her close friends, she still had to find a solution. One friend suggested splitting the table, but Chrissy said they didn’t want to sit with another half of random people they didn’t know well.

“Unfortunately, at this point, I didn’t care. I wanted this drama to be over,” Chrissy said. So, while talking to two friends, Chrissy suggested seating two other people at another table because they also had friends who needed people at other tables. She also suggested matching people from their table to someone they’re equally close to. However, this suggestion made her friend group splinter.

A friend group that didn’t survive prom

“The cookies are crumbling, the dominoes are falling, the chips are getting crushed,” Chrissy said. Other friends weighed in and allegedly called Chrissy “inhumane” for suggesting it. She thought they were getting closer to a solution, but their friend group allegedly started fighting afterward. Half the group agreed with Chrissy; the other half refused to leave two people out.

In a twist, Chrissy said they resolved their problems by splitting the table, which was a solution they initially avoided. Chrissy alleged that some people, disgruntled by the table situation, started talking smack about her at school. Worst of all, Rebecca suddenly said she no longer wanted to attend prom. Chrissy said she kicked Rebecca out of her car after Rebecca made the announcement.

Despite what she told Chrissy, Rebecca allegedly still went to prom and sat at their table. Although she no longer speaks to Rebecca and the other half of the friend group, Chrissy said she and the other half are still tight-knit friends. Things got messy between them at prom, but at least none of them started throwing hands during the fallout. This North Carolina woman wasn’t so lucky, and her friend of eleven years allegedly tried to beat her and send her to jail on her birthday trip.
