New York City woman agrees to a date but is sent on a treasure hunt instead: ‘Why am I at Nobu with no boo?’

Was the theme a treasure hunt, or an escape room?

New York City woman agrees to a date but is sent on a treasure hunt instead ‘Why am I at Nobu with no boo’

Kamrin White (@keepingupwkamw) from New York City thought she was going on a regular date at Nobu. But after arriving at the restaurant, White’s date threw her into a strange, quest-like adventure.

“I recently went on a date, and I quite literally have never experienced a date like this,” White shared on TikTok. She was excited since she matched with a Black man working in finance. The man set the date and even sent a driver to pick White up.

“I get into the car, and I get handed a note,” White said. She was initially impressed by the effort he put into the date. Then, she opened the note, and it allegedly said, “Yes, she’s pretty, but can she follow directions?” White was mildly put off by the note and commented, “Why would you put that?”

She explained that the note also instructed her not to text the man until she got to the location. She didn’t know where they were going, but unlike this woman from Florida who almost got kidnapped by her Olive Garden waiter, White arrived at Nobu.

The strangest date experience she had at Nobu

She was excited for dinner and walked in to greet the hostess. After being led to the table, White said her date was nowhere to be found. She messaged him to let him know that she was already at Nobu. The hostess returned and told White that everything had been paid for and she could order whatever she wanted, since he already paid. White said she received another note.

“The note is basically him telling me, get whatever drink I want, he’s not gonna be there. He’s gonna meet me at the next location,” White explained. She added that her date also implied that he wouldn’t plan a “lame date.”

“First of all, why am I at Nobu with no boo?” White expressed. She mentioned that at one point, someone approached her and asked whether she had been stood up. White replied, “No, girl, this was actually pre-planned and thought out.” She said she felt annoyed by the man’s antics and jokingly wondered if there was a Chanel store by the end of this treasure-hunt date.

Finally meeting her date after a restaurant change

White got back in the car with the driver, and he took her to the next location. It was raining hard, and White had to cross the street, only to find it was the wrong restaurant. At this point, White said she felt irritated, but they eventually drove to the right location, and she finally saw the man himself, who orchestrated the elaborate date.

“That portion goes decently well, besides the fact that he tells me his sperm pre-put aside to have children in the case that he dies,” White said. Other than the revelation, White appreciated dinner and enjoyed the speakeasy magic show they went to afterwards.

“At one point, I get cold, so he asked the waitress if she can bring me a jacket,” White said. But he supposedly praised himself for his consideration. “I’m sure you’re not used to men that can solve problems like this,” he allegedly told White.

“What type of men do you think I hang out with? I go out on dates with men that can’t give me a jacket when I’m cold?” White recalled. While there is no Chanel store at the end of it, the man allegedly told her there was a theme for their date night, which White couldn’t quite comprehend.

“The next morning, I get a photo of the Mona Lisa,” White said. Her date allegedly told her to “interpret” the painting, and White’s patience finally ran out. She said, “I don’t want to interpret s***. This is not for me.” But not everyone is as patient as White. Not even thirty minutes into meeting the man, a woman from Texas walked out and charged her date with “trauma tax” after crossing a line.
