Woman From Texas Looked Forward to Her Hinge Date. He Ruined Their Night With One Question, and She Charged Him With ‘Trauma Tax’
She didn't need to explain herself to him.

Cat Limket (@bigkittyenergy) from Texas has gone on 100 dates, which she has candidly shared on TikTok. But one particular Hinge date ended as soon as the wine bottle hit the table, with Limket walking out after he confronted her about her choice to be childfree.
“I walked out of this date within the first ten minutes of meeting this man, y’all,” Limket told TikTok. She was fresh out of a breakup when she matched with a man whom she nicknamed “Babyguy” on Hinge.
“On the Hinge app, you can write if you want kids, if you don’t want kids, if you have kids—whatever your preferences are,” she continued. Limket said she has been upfront about not wanting to have kids and stated her preference on her Hinge profile. She wasn’t trying to hide a secret or live a double life where she had kids and was previously married, like this man’s fiancée.
“Every single person that sees your frickin’ profile can see what your preferences are, and they should only swipe accordingly,” Limket said. Nevertheless, some characters on dating apps can be unpredictable, as was Babyguy. But Limket found him cute, and they started talking on the app. He was a surfer and seemed to be nice, even having a photo on his profile with his dog. Limket also said his profile was “open to kids” but didn’t state it as a dealbreaker.
He eventually asked her out for dinner on a weekend, but Limket refused, saying she was only free at the moment. She counter-offered, telling him she was free to meet after dinner for a drink. He suggested a wine bar in Dallas, and she agreed to meet him there. Limket’s best friend dropped her off at the wine bar to meet Babyguy.
The best way to speedrun a Hinge date
Jazz filled the room, and a live pianist was playing on the spot. When Limket told the receptionist her name, she was led to meet Babyguy, whom she at first thought looked cute. He gave her a kiss on the cheek, and she sat down next to him.
He started complimenting her, saying she looked lovely and asking her how her dinner with friends went. She talked about dinner and how one of her friends was about to go on maternity leave. He asked her to scan the menu, and she went for a Rioja. Babyguy agreed with her choice, saying he also loved red wine—it seemed to be a good match until the wine was served.
The man allegedly told her that she had a preference on her dating profile that he wanted to ask about before they got to know each other further. He also said that the preference “bothered” him.
“I found it really offensive that, as a woman, you said you don’t want kids,” the man allegedly told her. Limket paused, mid-sip of her Rioja, and said, “Excuse me?” She had been clear about her preferences, and yet the man said he “didn’t understand” why being a mother wasn’t her priority in life.

“This man doesn’t even know my last name yet. Like, he probably doesn’t even know what color my eyes are at this point,” Limket said, shocked by the man’s supposed offense at her child-free lifestyle. She had to clarify the question, and the man said he wanted to know why she didn’t want children.
“I don’t need a reason,” Limket told him. She believes that women don’t need to explain themselves for choosing a child-free life. On that note, she added, “If you want to be a mom, great. If you don’t want to be a mom, great.” Limket said that from a young age, she knew she didn’t want to be a mother, and yet her Hinge date allegedly kept prodding her for a reason.
“But why? It’s in y’all’s DNA and instinct,” the man allegedly told her. Limket didn’t let it slide, saying, “As a female, I can tell you we aren’t all built like that.” Another woman from New York had a similar experience, with her Hinge date hiding that he had kids from a previous relationship. Nevertheless, Limket’s patience was running thin. Although she was up for a discussion, she thought her date looked to be the type who wouldn’t be swayed by reason.
“I could give you a million reasons why your viewpoint is completely [expletive] up, but I just don’t want to waste my time with you. I want to have a good night tonight,” Limket said. She drank the wine in her glass, grabbed the rest of the bottle, and got up to leave. Limket added, “I will be taking this with me as a trauma tax.” She walked out without looking back, and not even the hostess could stop her. Walking out may not be the best outcome for a date, but as another woman from Colorado shared, it’s better to cut and run from a nice guy before he shows his true colors.
