There’ll be nothing to stop you this time—except extreme fatigue and what we can only refer to as “theater-seat-butt,” that is, as you try to sit through all seven Star Wars movies in a row when The Force Awakens comes out. That’s right, ticket sales really are starting on Monday, including the requisite marathons of all the films together.
After rumors flying of Force Awakens ticket sales beginning Monday along with a brand new trailer, io9 reports that they’ve received additional confirmation and details for how the whole thing will go down. Apparently, the official movie poster and logo will be revealed Sunday morning (which points to an individually designed logo like those of the original trilogy). Then, the new trailer is set to debut on Monday night around 8PM EDT, and tickets will go on sale shortly thereafter at most locations.
There are rumblings that the trailer will debut on TV during Monday Night Football to a massive audience on Disney-owned ESPN. /Film reports that the showings available for purchase begin at 7PM on December 17 and go through January 3. Meanwhile, marathon events (likely only available at select theaters) of all the films leading up to screenings of The Force Awakens are expected to begin at 4am … which is fine, because you’ll probably nap through the first two anyway—gotta save that seat—and get started in earnest at the more reasonable hour of 9-9:30AM anyway. All in all, a well-planned event.
If you’re not into football, we’re sure the trailer will hit the Internet shortly after it debuts or even simultaneously, and we’ll be sure to obsess over it post it for your viewing pleasure.
