Massachusetts woman catered a charcuterie board for a wedding. Then, the mother of the groom went bridezilla on her
The groom's mother had many expectations.

Caite Fontes (@caitethegreat), a Massachusetts-based caterer, told TikTok about her ‘wedding job from hell.’ She alleged that instead of the bride, the mother of the groom went ‘bridezilla’ on her.
“I catered the worst wedding of the century. The bridezilla thing stands true, but when the bride’s mother-in-law feels like it’s her wedding? It’s even more disastrous, I promise,” Fontes told social media. She claimed she’s done over three thousand events in eleven years, including roughly three hundred weddings. However, this wedding in particular was the only one that made her cry.
“I had a wedding of 120 that I was going to cater, and it was a simple, family-style/buffet. I did a six-foot grazing station, and we have a contract,” Fontes explained. The contract allegedly stated that her team would be there for four and a half hours to provide service. She showed video footage of her six-foot charcuterie board, which featured an assortment of cheeses, chocolates, crackers, and fruit. The spread covered the table with barely any gaps.
“As you can see, it was pretty stacked up,” she claimed. Fontes said that even though she’s done charcuterie for other events, she doesn’t replenish them after they’re finished unless the contract states otherwise. She said, “It’s a flat lay. I charge what I charge, and that’s what it is.” Fontes alleged that the groom’s mother arrived late to the reception. Others had already grazed on the charcuterie board for 35 minutes during cocktail hour.
Dealing with the groom’s mother
The mother allegedly came to her and asked if she was going to refill the charcuterie while guests were watching. Fontes replied, “No, there’s still stuff to be picked at, and I’m not gonna replenish. That’s not what we do.” However, the groom’s mother allegedly reminded her that they were supposed to serve until 4:00. To appease her, Fontes replenished with extra crackers she had on the side.
“She was pissed, told everyone that it should’ve been replenished,” Fontes alleged. She served guests at the buffet with her three employees, and Fontes overheard many guests praising the food and saying they couldn’t wait to go for seconds.
Humiliated in front of guests
“Listen, if I’m not your cup of tea, I like constructive criticism. It is what it is,” Fontes prefaced. However, while serving food to two tables, Fontes said the groom’s mother came up to the line. She allegedly asked for another plate, saying she needed it for someone. When Fontes asked if she liked the food, the groom’s mother allegedly said, “Absolutely not. I did not like anything.” Then, the mother allegedly called her food “trash” and said she “hated” it, all while the other guests were staring, waiting for their plates to be filled.
The comment shook Fontes, and the woman’s sister allegedly came up to check on her. Fontes said the sister took her side and even shared that the groom’s mother has been complaining about everyone else involved in the wedding logistics. But her ordeal wouldn’t end there. Fontes alleged that even though she wasn’t officially tasked with cutting the cake, she was still told to do it. When she arrived, she saw people eating off the back of the main cake, with some guests using their hands.
Regardless, she still cut the cake for the guests and treated it as a favor, even though it was allegedly not her job. Despite doing the extra job and slicing more than sixty cakes, Fontes alleged that the woman was still upset because she didn’t put them on the guest tables. As one bride said, weddings bring out the weird in people.
