‘Weddings bring out the weird in people’: her husband’s best man quit on him before the wedding. Then, she found out her bridesmaid resented her
Their lines got crossed, then had a fallout with their best friends.

Jennie (@greeneggsandglam) got married in 2025 but decided to wait a year to talk about her wedding. She had several unpleasant experiences during the event, including a fallout with her husband’s best man and her bridesmaid, which she revealed on TikTok.
“All the BS started with wedding invitations and the RSVPs,” Jennie told TikTok. She is a first-generation Vietnamese migrant to the United States but has other family members who escaped the war to other countries. Jennie was ready to invite many family members but had a hard rule against inviting children who weren’t immediate family. They also didn’t want to invite boyfriends and girlfriends they hadn’t met.
“So, the BS started happening when one of the cousins snuck her boyfriend onto the online RSVP,” Jennie alleged. She claimed the cousin added her boyfriend to the RSVP without consulting either her or her groom. They didn’t notice because it was a 200-person event, and they didn’t notice until a month and a half before their wedding. Regardless, the couple decided to let it go, and the cousin eventually went to their traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony.
Jennie alleged that at the ceremony, the cousin didn’t even introduce her boyfriend to them when she made another request. She asked the couple if her boyfriend’s dad, who lived in the same area, could attend the wedding the next day. She continued, “And when my husband respectfully said no, both of them proceeded to no-show our wedding the next day.” Jennie said that the cousin failed to notify them, and that they haven’t heard from them since.
Meanwhile, one of her cousins also decided to skip their tea ceremony to go to the zoo. Additionally, her parents, who are churchgoers, also proposed inviting other guests. “Weddings bring out the weird in people, Jennie commented.
The best man flaked before the wedding
“Most of the trauma actually came from our wedding party, from two of our longest-time friends. We’re both still extremely hurt and reeling,” Jennie said. She didn’t want to divulge too many details, but gave a general gist of the fallout.
“My husband’s, I guess, ex-bestie; he has been friends with for over 20 years,” Jennie disclosed. The best friend was a groomsman, and her husband asked him to be a best man. At first, her husband hesitated. Jennie alleged that ever since he started dating his new girlfriend, the best friend started pulling away.
“He doesn’t play video games with the boys anymore; he doesn’t come around my husband anymore,” Jennie explained. They allegedly invited the girlfriend to the wedding. But a couple of months before the event, the girlfriend voiced her discomfort with Jennie, so they removed her from the invite list. They gave her husband’s best friend an out, telling him that if he couldn’t be their best man, he should let them know.
“Two weeks before the wedding, we get a phone call, and he basically is in tears, saying that he can no longer attend our wedding at any capacity because his girlfriend gave him an ultimatum,” Jennie claimed. She said they didn’t receive a gift or even a text on their wedding day.
The bridesmaid had hidden animosity
“As for me, I had a bridesmaid. She was who I considered my best friend of fifteen-plus years,” Jennie said. She described their relationship as a sisterly friendship. However, during the wedding, she alleged that her best friend also started acting “weird” during her wedding season.
During her bachelorette trip, Jennie said her best friend put in little effort. She said, “I honestly felt really hurt by it, but we were so close to the wedding, I didn’t have the emotional capacity to feel that hurt.”
Just when she thought their ordeal was over, she discovered her best friend’s hidden sentiments during the wedding weekend. Jennie alleged that her best friend got “blackout drunk,” then started saying things that were “super cancellable.” She alleged that her best friend started making inappropriate and racist comments about her husband’s family.
“Jennie, if she was not in a bridesmaid dress, I would think that this girl hated you,” one of her other friends allegedly told Jennie. Her best friend apparently began speaking poorly of her bachelorette party. When confronted after the wedding, her best friend confessed she had held a grudge against Jennie for over ten years. Jennie said she couldn’t even bear to look at her own wedding photos because her ex-best friend was photographed with her. Even though their friendship couldn’t be saved, at least her best friend didn’t try to send her to a jail in the Dominican Republic, unlike what a woman in North Carolina experienced.
