The cinematic follow-up to The LEGO Movie, which is called LEGO Batman and will feature Will Arnett’s reprisal of his comedic turn as the caped crusader, just cast Rosario Dawson as its LEGO Batgirl. So not only is Barbara Gordon in this movie in the first place — which is awesome — she’ll be voiced by an excellent actress with both dramatic and comedic chops. (And some superheroism experience, too, given her recent role on the Daredevil show.)

Readers with good memories will recall that Zach Galifianakis got cast as the LEGO Joker in LEGO Batman a few months back, so it does look like they’ll be several hilarious heavy-hitters trading jokes in the film. Michael Cera will be voicing LEGO Robin, for example.

The LEGO Movie was funny, to be sure, but it didn’t give its heroine Wyldstyle much to do — and Wonder Woman’s cameo was all too brief. It would be cool to see Batgirl playing more of a prominent role in the proceedings of this film; it may be titled LEGO Batman, but that doesn’t mean Babs shouldn’t still have a chance to show off her skills (and humor stylings, too).
