THIS JUST IN. The X-Men spin-off, The New Mutants, is moving forward as a film at FOX, and they’ve hired director Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) to helm.

We have no further details at this time except Collider says Simon Kinberg will produce.

So, will The New Mutants make us dissolve into heaving, messy sobs like his last film did? Only time will tell.

[UPDATED 5:03PM] Deadline Hollywood reported the following quote by producer, Simon Kinberg:

Said Kinberg of the X-Men expansion with Boone: “We’re so excited to explore this new part of the X-Men universe, and so excited to do it with Josh, who is uniquely suited to tell this story about young characters.”
