Fox News just took a hard turn into personal territory, and it’s not pretty. Julie Banderas went after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s dating life and future plans during a segment on Jesse Watters Primetime, all while Watters himself fanned the flames. The exchange was messy, to say the least, and it’s raising eyebrows for how far it strayed from policy into outright personal attacks.
The whole thing kicked off when Banderas and Watters dissected Ocasio-Cortez’s recent comments about dating conservatives. According to TV Insider, during a quick chat with a TMZ reporter on Capitol Hill, the Congresswoman was asked if she’d ever date someone across the aisle. Her response was pretty straightforward – she laughed, then said it was “probably not,” adding that values alignment mattered to her. Banderas decided to weigh in with some strong opinions.
“Girl, no conservative would want to date you,” Banderas said on the show, dismissing Ocasio-Cortez’s stance as anything but surprising. Banderas added, “She broke up, she froze her eggs, she’s eventually going to put them in, and maybe some brave soul will stand up and be the father of those poor little children,” she said. The implications were clear – Banderas wasn’t just criticizing Ocasio-Cortez’s politics; she was mocking her personal life.
Watters, for his part, didn’t rein things in
He jumped in with his own commentary, sarcastically framing Ocasio-Cortez as someone with “standards” for her next partner, though he clarified they weren’t talking about marriage. “Well, we didn’t say ‘marry,’” Watters said. Banderas shot back, “Well, I know, but at her age, she’s gonna eventually want to have a husband, I think.” Watters even joked that Ocasio-Cortez was “back on the market” after her breakup.
This isn’t the first time Watters has crossed the line with Ocasio-Cortez, either. Earlier this year, she turned down an invitation to appear on his show after a producer reached out. She accused Watters of “sexually harassing” her on air, pointing to a 2025 segment where he made a crude remark about her and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller.
“He’s accused me of… he has sexualized me on his show, he has sexually harassed me on his show, he has engaged in horrific, sexually exploitative rhetoric,” she told the producer. Watters’ had said, “I think AOC wants to sleep with Miller. It is so obvious. And, I’m sorry, you can’t have him.”
Ocasio-Cortez didn’t let that slide. She fired back with, “You can either be a pervert or ask me to be on your little show. Not both.” The exchange underscored just how toxic the dynamic between the two has become, and it’s hard not to see this latest segment as another chapter in that ongoing feud.

When the reporter asked if Ocasio-Cortez would ever date a conservative, she didn’t just shut the idea down. At first, she laughed, then gave a thoughtful answer.
“I have to say it’s probably not,” she said, before adding, “No foul to people who do. And of course, how you define that is very different from person to person, right? But I think a lot of politics sometimes, at least for me, is about values, and being aligned in values I think is tremendously important.” It was a measured response, one that acknowledged the complexity of dating across political lines without dismissing the idea entirely.
Ocasio-Cortez has been open about her personal life lately, especially after announcing she was freezing her eggs in August. According to Mediaite, she framed the decision as something she’s doing for herself, despite the “negativity” she’s faced. “I was born a woman, period,” she said on Instagram.
“And I have no control over that, and I wouldn’t want to change that. And the way I feel is, any negativity or judgement that I would receive at any point is negativity that I would receive for being a woman, whether I shared this information or not. So I might as well help others,” she continued. It’s a powerful statement, and it’s clear she’s not backing down from the criticism.
AOC spoke about the challenges of balancing motherhood with a political career
During the same TMZ interview, she admitted she’d been “very concerned” about having a child while in office, citing the high cost of childcare as a major hurdle. But she also suggested she’s more open to the idea now than she was before. “I think it’s something that I’m still figuring out,” she said, “but I’m not ruling it out.” It’s a refreshingly honest take, especially in a world where politicians often keep their personal lives under wraps.
The contrast between Ocasio-Cortez’s openness and Banderas’ mockery is striking. While Ocasio-Cortez is talking about values, family planning, and the realities of being a woman in politics, Banderas and Watters are reducing the conversation to snide remarks and personal jabs. By bringing up Ocasio-Cortez’s eggs and future children, Banderas was making a judgment about her choices as a woman.
It’s a tactic that feels outdated, especially when you consider how much progress has been made in normalizing conversations about fertility and family planning. Ocasio-Cortez’s decision to freeze her eggs is a personal one, and it’s not up for debate on a cable news show.
Watters’ role in all this is worth noting, too. He’s no stranger to controversy, and his history with Ocasio-Cortez is particularly fraught. The fact that he’s still platforming discussions where personal lives are fair game speaks volumes about the direction his show has taken.
