Delta Airlines passenger goes viral for ingenious trick to keep man out of her space, resulting in viral meltdown from the man

We tried the easy way, now we doing this the hard way.

A New York woman who used a rather unconventional but ingenious trick to keep a man out of her space on board a Delta Airlines flight has gone viral after netizens praised her approach. The woman, who later identified herself as Kadia Tubman, a News Correspondent from Brooklyn, was put on blast by a man named Otto, who claimed she was being “passive-aggressive” after she wore an earring on her sleeve.

The original post from Otto has since been taken down, but it hasn’t stopped people from talking about it. On October 16, Otto made a post after getting into a verbal altercation with another passenger on board a Delta Airlines flight. He claimed that the female passenger had poked the back of her earring through her sleeve so that the sharp end would poke him if he got too close.

The photo shared by Otto showed the earring poking through Kadia’s sleeve. According to the Daily Mail, he claimed that she had put the earring there after becoming “angry” at him because he had “used the armrest before takeoff.”

Otto also tagged Delta at the start of his post and claimed he “calmly asked her to remove it,” but she allegedly refused, telling him he “was taking up too much of my seat ‘cause I’m a man.’” He claimed he didn’t mind until “turbulence” allegedly caused the earring to poke him.

Kadia Tubman gave her side

However, Otto didn’t receive the response he likely expected, as many noted that the woman in the picture appeared to be on her side. “She’s so self-contained,” TikToker Arii Gemini said. Adding that, “She’s, like, in her own bubble. She’s not, like, overlapping the invisible boundary at all.”

Tubman herself came forward to give her own version of what happened on the Delta flight via Instagram. She claimed that she initially let the man use her side of the armrest as he was working. However, she claimed that he repeatedly brushed his arm against her, and when she told him to stop, he claimed he had no space. At one point, his shifting allegedly woke her up as his arm continued to touch her, and so she decided to install the earring on her sleeve.

Tubman claimed that the earring eventually poked him because of his constant shifting and not due to turbulence, and “he immediately took out his phone” to snap the photo. Tubman said that the way she was seated in the photo was how she had been seated when her earring poked him, adding, “He would’ve had to be so close to me as to be poked.”

Most online took Tubman’s side, claiming that the picture proved that Otto would have had to be in her personal space to have gotten poked in the first place.
