Woman spends $75 on outback Steakhouse’s family meal deal. It doesn’t take her long to notice how little food she actually got: ‘Disappointed’

The real surprise wasn't on the menu

Spending $75 on a family meal should mean plenty of food for everyone. But one woman was disappointed after seeing what came with her Outback Steakhouse order. Some of the portions were much smaller than she expected.

Restaurant deals can be tempting, especially when feeding a group. While some customers have found family meals at surprisingly low prices, paying more doesn’t always mean getting more food.

In a TikTok video with 1.4 million views, Kat (@katscraving) reviews Outback Steakhouse’s $75 Bloomin’ Bundle, which she bought for four adults and two toddlers. The chicken initially impressed her, but things took a turn when she opened the sides.

And that’s where things got interesting

Kat explains that she chose the chicken option because her friends wouldn’t arrive for another hour, and reheating steak didn’t sound appealing. The bundle includes six chicken breasts, three sides, a family-sized salad, and bread.

The chicken portions initially impress her. “These are a really good size,” she remarks, adding that each piece looks sufficient for an adult.

However, her excitement fades when she opens the sides. The fries look fine, but the mashed potatoes are another story. “This is pretty disappointing,” she admits, pointing out that the container isn’t even halfway full.

The seasonal vegetables aren’t much better. Although the promotional picture showed appealing vegetable options, her order contains only broccoli. “I’m kind of disappointed that it’s just broccoli,” she remarks.

Then comes the bread. Despite ordering a meal intended for six people, Kat receives only two loaves. “I don’t know why they only gave us two for six people,” she questions.

By the end, she isn’t convinced the bundle justifies its price. “Seventy five dollars is just a lot of money for like the amount of food that we got,” she concludes.

Kat promises a follow-up showing how much food remains after everyone eats. She also plans to compare the bundle’s price with ordering individual meals to determine whether it actually saves money.

The video sparked disagreement, with several viewers criticizing the portions. “You should contact them, i’m not filling up the containers is diabolical. Also they definitely shorted you on the bread,” one commenter argued.

Another agreed, writing, “I feel like the mash potatoes were lacking and two breads for 6 is unacceptable.”

Others questioned why a Bloomin’ Bundle didn’t include the restaurant’s signature appetizer. “Bloomin bundle deal and they didn’t give you a blooming onion is wild,” one viewer remarked.

However, someone identifying themselves as an Outback catering employee offered a different perspective. “A large chx bundle get six 8oz chx breasts, and three sides,” the commenter explained.

Addressing the mashed potatoes, they added, “small mash side gets 3 scoops, a large get 4-5, and those pans hold 4 scoops at the bottom, that why it looks short.”

The commenter also explained that broccoli is typically used for catering because it’s their most consistently good-quality vegetable. As for the bread, they wrote, “were told to put 1 loaf for every 3 meals, so if you want more you just gotta ask!”

Defending the price, they argued, “thats typically 18.99 for a chicken dinner, so youre getting $113 worth of chicken meals for only 75! its actually a steal when you look at it.”

Some viewers agreed. “if you go to the restaurant it’s around $20 with only 2 sides… So, if you’re able to plate 6 meals then $75 seems fair,” one wrote.

Others felt they could get a better deal elsewhere, especially with Texas Roadhouse’s budget-friendly family meals. “the Texas Roadhouse one is a better deal! over $20 less and you get a DOZEN Rolls,” one viewer suggested.

In a follow-up video, Kat revealed that the bundle actually provided more than enough food for four adults and two toddlers, although the children barely ate. She also found that six individual chicken meals would cost around $116.94 at her location, making the $75 bundle cheaper. Still, she wasn’t entirely convinced. “So I don’t know if we would get this again,” she admitted.
