Actress Selma Blair arrested after mid-air meltdown, which allegedly saw her bite flight attendant and try to open plane door

Selma Blair has been arrested after the Hollywood actress allegedly assaulted two flight attendants during a Delta Airlines flight to New York City. Blair reportedly punched one and bit another and even allegedly tried to open the plane’s emergency exit door.
According to TMZ, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 11. The actress allegedly became aggressive toward crew members while the Delta Air Lines flight 938 was in the air, culminating in Blair getting into a physical altercation with them.
Dispatch audio obtained from the plane revealed that officials had reported minor injuries, which included “a bloody nose as well as some bite marks.” They requested medical assistance at the gate. “I don’t think we need an ambulance or anything like that,” the pilot was heard saying. “We just want to get some medical personnel at the gate to look at their injuries,” a copy of the dispatch recording published by NBC Los Angeles reads.
Blair was arrested around 11 p.m. at the John F. Kennedy International Airport before being taken to the hospital while the FBI investigated the incident. Numerous outlets reported that the Legally Blonde actress had allegedly punched one of the flight attendants and bit another one before trying to open the plane’s door mid-flight. TMZ also reported that the actress bashed her head against the bulkhead.
Selma Blair experienced a medical emergency
“Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.” A rep for the actress said. Blair has publicly spoken about her battle with multiple sclerosis for many years. Although she announced she had entered remission in 2021, she claimed to still be dealing with the effects of MS years later.
Whether her medical emergency was related to her MS or not is unclear, as Blair’s spokesperson did not provide details regarding the emergency. However, whatever the reason for her alleged actions, she may still face criminal charges.
According to The Guardian, the FBI has issued Blair a notice charging her with assault relating to her actions on board the plane. The actress was also charged with two counts of second-degree assault. One is for allegedly attacking a police officer who was transporting her to the hospital, and another is for attacking a nurse at the hospital.
A spokesperson for Delta told TMZ that passenger and crew safety was a top priority. “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior,” the spokesperson said. “The safety of our customers and crew always comes first.”
