Boyfriend Gets Caught Cheating and Tries to Convince His Girlfriend It Was Part of a Secret ‘FBI Mission.’ It Doesn’t Go Well

Wrong answer.

A wild Instagram reel is making the rounds after a boyfriend tried to blame the FBI for his cheating, and let’s just say his girlfriend wasn’t having it. The clip, posted on the account @chrisxkeara, shows the girlfriend confronting him about his infidelity, only for him to spin a bizarre story about being an undercover FBI agent on a secret mission. Spoiler alert: she didn’t buy it.

The video starts with the girlfriend demanding an explanation, and the boyfriend – who claims his real name is David Walker, Agent David Walker – insists she hear him out. “I know this is going to be really hard for you to believe, okay? But can you just listen to me for a second?” he says, launching into a story about being sent to spy on the woman he cheated with.

The girlfriend, clearly unimpressed, fires back with, “You slept with her.” His response? “No, I didn’t.” She’s not convinced, calling him out with, “So, you’re looking for suspects to sleep with. Oh my god.” The exchange escalates until she drops the mic with, “You’re not an FBI agent. You’re schizophrenic.” She repeats, “You’re 100% schizophrenic.” It’s still unclear whether this reel is a real confrontation or a scripted skit.

Either way, it’s struck a nerve online

The “caught my partner cheating” trope is a tried-and-true formula for viral content, and this one’s no exception. Whether it’s real or not, the scenario has people talking about the lengths some people will go to cover up their lies – and blaming the FBI is definitely a new low.

This isn’t the first time someone’s tried to pull off the “I’m an FBI agent” excuse, though. Jenna Jean, a woman who thought she was dating an actual FBI agent, shared her story in 2024, and it’s just as wild. According to The Sun, Jenna met her boyfriend on a dating app in 2021, and he claimed to work for the FBI the entire time they dated.

Six months in, he told her he was relocating to Washington, D.C. for “FBI training,” and the two tried long-distance before eventually breaking up. But the story didn’t end there. Months later, he called her out of the blue, spinning a tale about a covert mission and a new number she couldn’t reach him on. Something about it didn’t sit right with Jenna, so she started digging.

She confided in a friend who worked in U.S. intelligence, and after searching their database, the friend came up empty. There was no record of her boyfriend as an FBI agent. Fast forward to 2024, and Jenna appeared on the Dating Detectives podcast, where a private investigator promised to help her get closure.

A few weeks later, she got an email confirming her suspicions: her ex had never been in the FBI. Not only that, but he’d never even been through FBI training. There was zero connection to the bureau in his background.

She realized she’d ignored a ton of red flags

He was secretive, had no social media presence, and claimed all his friends were deployed with the military. He even had an FBI resume and cover letter on his desktop, almost like he wanted her to see it. The private investigator later told Jenna he had no job history outside of a stint in the military before they met. But here’s where it gets even crazier: through her TikTok videos, Jenna connected with other women who’d fallen for the same guy’s lies.

One woman in D.C. had gone on two Hinge dates with him while he was supposedly in FBI training. Another woman in Florida was currently dating him when her friends sent her Jenna’s podcast episode. It was the same guy.

Jenna’s story is a stark reminder of how far some people will go to manipulate others. Her ex didn’t take money or ask for favors. It’s a cautionary tale about trusting too quickly and ignoring the warning signs, even when they’re staring you right in the face.

Back to the Instagram reel, though. Whether it’s real or staged, the boyfriend’s excuse is next-level ridiculous. Blaming the FBI for cheating is a new one, even in the world of viral relationship drama, and it culminated in the girlfriend calling him out as ‘schizophrenic.’

If nothing else, the reel is a hilarious (or horrifying) example of how some people will say anything to avoid taking responsibility.
